THE SALEM WITCH HUNT The Salem witch trials were a series of hearings and prosecutions of people accused of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts between February 1692 and May 1693. The trials resulted in the executions of twenty people, fourteen of them women, and all but one by hanging. The episode is one of Colonial America's most notorious cases of apparent mass hysteria. It has been used in political rhetoric and popular literature as a vivid cautionary tale about the dangers of isolationism, religious extremism, false accusations, and lapses in due process. Although the last trial was held in May 1693, public response to the events continued. In the decades following the trials, survivors and family members (and their supporters) sought to establish the innocence of the individuals who were convicted. In November 2001, years after the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the trials, the Massachusetts legislature passed an act exonerating all who had been convicted and naming each of the innocent... but were are any of these accusations warranted? Back In Time has been hired by a descendant of one of the convicted women to travel back to 1692 and conduct an investigation into the accusations of witchcraft. You and your team must gather evidence to either support or refute these accusations. Do you have what it takes to determine the guilt or innocence of this woman and put this question to rest? Sign up for this mission and find out!

We liked this room! Everything felt "clean" and functional. The puzzles were an interesting mix requiring keen observation, correlation and positioning of various elements. There were a few "aha!" moments and cool tricks! While everything was thematic, I did feel that the primary objective of the quest was more of a superficial dressing to tie in with the overall arc of "Back In Time" missions. You essentially solve linear puzzles leading to the final code needed to escape the room. I'd recommend this room - and will return to try the others. It wasn't "scary" but had a mildly spooky atmosphere. GM Victor took good care of us, was welcoming and friendly with a sense of humor.

Gameplay

It was fun solving the puzzles! The variety was nice where the linearity helps you focus on what you need to look for.

Atmosphere

On the spooky side with good lighting. Pay attention to the sounds!

Customer service

Staff (Jareth and Victor) were welcoming and chill! GM Victor was attentive, helpful, and with a sense of humor.

No

But will mention that some effects/puzzle tricks were cool!

Story

The main objective doesn't quite integrate with what you had to do in the room. But the theme is well integrated everywhere though! It still makes for a very good experience even if you don't pay much attention to the main objective of the premise.

Can be done by 2 experienced players. But group of 3 would be ideal. More than 4 could feel crowded.

Overall setting and props on the spooky side. Not scary but the reveal of one puzzle may catch you by surprise if you're standing too close to it!

It's inside Stonebriar Mall, right outside Dillard's. Ground-level. Closest parking would be Dillard's. But you can also park in the covered lot facing the front of the mall, enter, make a left and keep walking all the way to the Dillard's - it will be on the right.

We really enjoyed this room. Victor was very good at giving us mild nudges when we needed them. We’ve done several rooms so we really didn’t need much help. If you are experienced, this is easily doable with 2 people. If not, you might need 3-4. The room was very clean and the puzzles weren’t too difficult. I would recommend if you are looking for something not too easy, but not too difficult. We will be back!

I enjoyed the room, it had good integration story-wise, and some unique puzzles. It was spooky, though not scary necessarily (one person in my group felt like there was something close to a jump scare they did not appreciate). There were a couple of times things needed to be moved mechanically that we had trouble with, but overall very smooth room and story. Would do another room at this location.

What a polished and thoughtful experience! From the thematic lobby to the door that you enter the experience to the room itself, it’s set and scenery driven. The story evolves naturally, and there are a number of thoughtful and surprising reveals. Signposting is clear while still giving players a myriad of aha moments. It’s a spooky atmosphere that’s thematically appropriate, driven home by well-timed lighting and sound cues. Play this immediately!!!

Really enjoyed this room; spooky but not scary. Nice setting and scenery; enjoyed that the puzzles and locks (for the most part) were period-appropriate. GM Ben was very good - liked that he took the time before we began to ask how much guidance we wanted and tailored his hints to our preferences. Staff was friendly and welcoming - we will definitely return to this location. They are also opening a location in Arlington.

Had a lot of cool puzzles, even for me who has done a lot of escape rooms already. Story was overall week, but the atmosphere and the puzzles made up for it.

The theme for this place is fun - you’re a time traveler and the different rooms you visit are part of your “mission”. We enjoyed this room with just the four of us - it was the perfect group size for this room. Really liked the decor and mechanisms. Not too linear and was a good difficulty.
