You know that famous saying – YOLO – You Only Live Once? Well that’s not actually true. The truth is, you only die once. You’re living everyday. But are you really living? You wake up. Eat. Work. Sleep then repeat this over and over and over again every sad day of your existence until the day you die. Is this what you call life? No. But the team at ZEN are here to help! You start by entering an all white room and you have 60 minutes to bring the joy and colour back to everything and everyone around you.

Another strong outing from Labyrinth, Zen delivers on what they’re known for — immersive theming, smart puzzle flow, and a polished experience from start to finish. As escape room veterans, we underestimated this one. It looks deceptively straightforward at first glance, but it quickly reveals layers that demand careful observation, solid teamwork, and clear communication. The room does a great job of keeping you engaged without relying on flashy gimmicks. Every puzzle feels purposeful and connected, and solving them gives a genuine sense of payoff. It challenges without overwhelming, which makes it satisfying for both seasoned players and sharp newcomers. If you’re looking for a well-balanced, thoughtfully designed room that will make you think without beating you down, Zen is a worthy challenge.

I did this room with my partner, and found it to be a relatively straightforward room. Definitely had some moments of fun and some creative puzzles. Had a minor issue with one of the mechanisms not triggering despite placing the object, but game master was pretty quick to prompt us that the placement just needed slight adjustment, so wasn't a huge deal. Overall we enjoyed it, but wasn't as challenging as some of the other rooms we've done. So if you're experienced it might feel on the easier side.

The room quality was solid, though, given its all-white aesthetic, a fresh coat of paint in certain areas wouldn’t go amiss. The story was perhaps a little vague—some of our team felt like we were mental patients, while others weren’t entirely sure of the backstory. Zen is a linear room with a strong task-based progression. The puzzle flow was smooth overall, though we did hit a couple of roadblocks that required us to use Labyrinth’s five-hint system. Once we got into a rhythm, we powered through the remaining challenges and escaped with 12 minutes to spare. Overall we had a lot of fun, at times all four of us singing and dancing along.

Completed “Zen” room with 2 people. Very interesting concept and a bit different from other escape rooms that we’ve done. It was a little difficult for us to start but was okay after we got into the rhythm of things. Very creative puzzles that we haven’t seen before. There were some technical difficulties which detracted from the experience a little as we didn’t know whether we had successfully solved the puzzles at times but our GM kindly kept us informed and let us know when we were on the right track. Oliver was a great game master, very friendly and clear in his instructions. Overall a great first visit and can’t wait to try the other rooms!

After being impressed by Game Night, we immediately booked and played Zen afterwards. The large array of mechanical puzzles in the room made the room feel a lot more immersive. This room technically doesn't contain too many puzzles and comes in the form of a to-do list. One of the puzzles is a bit disorientating. For this room, Chloe took over as our gamemaster and they also made sure to only give small tips when needed. We did end up asking for one clue though. (Much to one of our dismay)

Gameplay

There are times where the flow is halted for some of the puzzles.

Completed with my partner. I really wanted to like it, but due to (we believe) some tech issues, not everything happened as soon as we completed certain puzzles. Here’s my opinion: - mostly linear with some multi linear puzzles. - Outside knowledge needed? e.g. Math, English specific knowledge etc… NO 1. Hints system: 3/5 Our games-master was nice enough to nudge us in the right direction at the beginning, as we weren’t sure what puzzle to start on and throughout if we seemed really stuck. 2. Immersion: 5/5 The idea of the room and general immersion was novel & great! You enter into darkness and then the world is revealed to you, which definitely helped to transport you to the world they’ve built. 3. Build quality: 3/5 Mostly lots of wear and tear or broken. Some items were coming off so it was hard to know its orientation or some technical delays caused confusion as we wouldn’t get our next item etc. 4. Story flow: 3/5 There was a very basic flow to the story but some moments didn’t make sense. 5. Puzzle quality: 2/5 Not enough basic signposting and at times it’s hard to know which lock your answer goes to. Some puzzles don’t intuitively lead you to the next step. 6. Games mastering: 3/5 customer service GM interaction etc Hint wise I believe the games master was aware when to help. But we weren’t informed of where to place our items, bathrooms and basic things like that.
