It's been over a year since your friend has gone missing, however you've never stopped searching. Newly discovered photos and information has led you to the largest wetlands in south central Louisiana. Knowing that your friend is a dedicated hiker and daring explorer, all signs point to the Haddonfield Territory, a sovereign region, off the grid, at the base of the Appalachian Mountains. It's uncharted, dangerous and uninhabitable. To make matters worse, you've learned that a string of missing person cases litter the surrounding area leaving locals to believe that there's more than just the dense thicket and treacherous wildlife within. For you, the path is clear: If you want to find your friend, you must head to Louisiana and venture deep inside the Haddonfield Territory.

Let me just say we came into this escape room without any research and we came in blind to find out it was pretty scary and spooky. Sound and special effects definitely made it a little hard to solve knowing that something would spook us, but overall fun

This room leans more toward providing a spooky, immersive experience than a puzzle-solving one. The storyline is engaging and the atmosphere feels convincingly realistic, but the puzzles tend to be on the easier side, with solutions that are fairly straightforward. Overall, it’s a good choice for players seeking a chilling experience, but may not satisfy those looking for more unique or witty puzzles.

Maze Rooms rarely misses — and Something’s Out There is no exception. We’re giving this one a solid 9/10. It’s a spooky, eerie experience that builds tension without relying on heavy jump scares. It’s more unsettling than scary, which actually works well for the theme. The room is immersive, but if you’ve played Whatever Happened to the Garretts?, you’ll understand why we’re saying this one doesn’t quite reach that same level. There are moments where we would’ve liked to see the immersion pushed just a little further — especially in the second half. That said, we don’t want to give away any spoilers because the room does have some really cool touches and design choices. Puzzles were logical, clean, and diverse, with a smooth flow from start to finish. We loved the blend of tactile and tech elements — everything made sense and kept us engaged. The only letdown was the ending, which felt a bit abrupt. We were actively working through a puzzle when the game just ended — a little jarring after such a solid buildup. The location of the ending was creative, though, and visually interesting. Overall, Something’s Out There is a well-executed room with great atmosphere and classic Maze Rooms craftsmanship. For fans of eerie themes and strong puzzle design, it’s absolutely worth a visit — just don’t expect it to hit quite as hard as Garretts.

One of the most immersive rooms I’ve done. A lot of jump scare for those with the faint heart like myself. Totally doable for 2-4 ppl.

One of my favorite escape rooms ever. This escape room felt too real. This location has high production rooms. So many jump scares, my friends and I loved it. Thank you Clare for being an amazing GM. #🐷🐽

Maze rooms continues to wow us in the escape room world. Somethings out there is another winner from them. Scare factor was definitely the highest we’ve experienced in a room of theirs, a couple jump scares and creepy ambiance. Puzzles flowed really well, and the linear nature means no coming back to past knowledge, which is good. Overall, a great room with good puzzles and solid scare factor.

Gameplay

Linear progression of the room was nice, not needing to come back to previous puzzles.

Atmosphere

Such an eerie setting, a couple jump scares, but really well done set design.

We did it as a pair and got through it ok, a couple of the puzzles are in sets of 3 which might’ve been a bit easier with an extra set of hands.

Just the right amount of scary! Thank God there's no live actors. 😆 Set design was sooo immersive from the moment you step in the room. It felt like as if you've been transported to the heart of Louisiana's Bayou. And like I said, just the right amount of scary. Nothing too crippling that it takes away from the actual puzzles solving. The puzzles itself were creative and fun. I actually like this room better than Whatever Happened to the Garretts? But I love the storyline in that one.

This was a fun game, and a great horror game for horror newbies. So many of the worlds highest rated games are horror, so we are slowly trying to be better at them. The game is scary, and has some jump scares, but all in all, it's not too bad. The puzzles are fun, the set is nice, and we had an overall good experience.

A gloriously frightful experience. With this one, Maze Rooms manages to accomplish making players feel like they’re in the middle of a scary movie without the use of a live actor. The scenic design and soundscape make you feel like you’re being watched…or worse, hunted. It’s got some fun jumpscares, excellent puzzles and a nerve wracking storyline. Highly recommend!

Gameplay

Fun gameplay! Great flow.

Atmosphere

Fantastic and immersive set design. They do a fantastic job of creating the feeling that you’re being watched and hunted.

  • It’s rare to find a horror game that balances tension as skillfully as this room.
