151 escape rooms
Honestly, I really liked this game I just didn’t like it quite as much as the other offerings at this location. My favorite games at The Escape Game are probably Special Ops and Gold Rush just because I found them to be the most exciting. The Depths was the most well designed submarine themed escape room that I’ve done thus far though so I would still recommend the game!
Gameplay
The puzzles in this game were relatively simple but flowed neatly from one to the next.
Atmosphere
This room utilized screens in the portholes to make it believable that you were actually underwater which is definitely a step further than other submarine rooms I’ve done have taken it! This game felt smaller than other games at The Escape Game but it wasn’t too distracting because it makes sense for the cramped interior of a submarine.
Customer service
The game masters were very welcoming and accommodating even though we didn’t book this game beforehand.
Particularly interesting or different
Yes
The concept of being trapped in a submarine is a fairly common escape room storyline but this is the most well executed submarine game that I’ve played so far!
Story
I liked the elements of surprise incorporated throughout this game.
Difficulty
Medium
Honestly the puzzles were pretty easy but sometimes it took a moment to identify which puzzle to work on next.
Game tech
There were a lot of physical locks in this game but there were also technical aspects of the game (mostly for immersion purposes).
Ideal number of players
4
There is one part of this game in particular that is pretty difficult without four people. The rest of the game would be doable with 2-3 people. The rooms are pretty small so I wouldn’t recommend more than 5 people.
Scary
Not scary
Minimum age
10
The theming of this room is very family friendly. I would recommend the Playground room first for children but if they enjoyed that room then I think that The Depths or Gold Rush would be appropriate for their next game.
Was anything broken?
No
One of the puzzles was recently replaced and a bit difficult to move but nothing was broken.
Live actors
No
Physically active
Not at all
Unless you have less than four players (you might need to move pretty quickly for a few minutes).
Accessibility
The small spaces might make this game challenging for people with mobility restrictions but there are no stairs or crawl spaces. Some puzzles utilizes color but no puzzles utilized sound.
Easy to find location
Yes
