The Rugh-Mast Mansion was originally built as the Red Rock Tavern, with many hidden passages and secret chambers. It was later converted to a mansion. We don’t know much about the early days except they are shrouded in tales of a nefarious nature. What we do know is that sometime in the 1930’s, a family of five were finally seen moving in to the long-abandoned estate. However, once the last box had been carried into the home and the door was shut, they were never seen outside the manor walls again...

Rating: 3/5- Good for a small town room, but average/decent overall. The room was a mix of padlocks and tech based triggers. They did a good job with the lock mapping so that you knew which puzzle solved which lock. The set looked decent for a Mansion with multiple rooms to explore but the immersion and budget weren't particularly high, it's average quality for a Midwest room. Puzzles were OK, a couple felt like time wasters and the puzzle style seemed very old school, like from 2015. Some of the puzzles could be interpreted in multiple ways which unnecessarily added to the difficulty. I also wasn't a fan of the runbook style of play, there was way too much reading and too many pages to flip through, it's hard for more than one person to look at it at once. GM was friendly and helpful, though we probably should've asked for more (unlimited) hints. We played as a team of 2 but did not escape. I would recommend at least 3 as there are parallel puzzles to work on and you'll want someone to help manage the runbook too.

This room exceeded my expectations for a small town escape room. Loved our game master. I would recommend four people instead of two because there are SO many little puzzles to work on in each room. Definitely will be back to try their other rooms.
