Solid room. I liked the puzzle difficulty. But it’s still generally harder than typically escape rooms. No stairs, but it had a crawl space and only one person has to do it.

I quite enjoyed The Great Room. The puzzles were more blended between tech and mechanical which was nice and there was enough to do for both of us. The height of the room was well used as well, I really liked how they used that space! There are one or two small items that could make this room better but that doesn't mean it's bad by any means. This is the first of the Hayden series we have done and it left me excited to do the others!

Gameplay

A good blend of tech and mechanical. Things flowed pretty well from one thing to the next. It is a pretty linear room so smaller groups would be better here.

Atmosphere

I would love to give this a heart but the lack of any audio playing really takes you out of it. We could hear other groups talking in surrounding rooms while we were doing this room. Some basic audio playing would do wonders here. Everything else, set, props, even the hallway getting to the room were very well done!

Customer service

The GM couldn't tell us what the story was or what we were supposed to be doing in the room. He was kind and gave us a few hints when they were needed and always knew where we were in the game, that's always appreciated!

As far as I can tell there is no story to this room. I asked what the objective was and was told "I don't know, you'll just know when it's over."

This room was just as high quality as everything else from 13th Hour since Cookhouse, but I would say it's the least impressive one for me of the bunch. That's not to discredit how great this room is though. Their other rooms are just that impressive. Given the name, I had expected this to be bigger, but it felt like the smallest room from everything in the John Hayden series since Cookhouse. You can expect thought provoking puzzles at every corner in an eerie atmosphere just like all their other rooms. I just thought the reveals were a little less surprising here than the others and there was one puzzle I found kind of tedious is all. I thought there was a missed opportunity in fully utilising the vertical space, but at the same time, at least it was present. I know it sounds like I'm ragging on this room a lot, but it's still a very worthy entry in the John Hayden series. The bar is just set so high for everything from Trophy Room and onwards.

As Stephie always says, the sketchier the building the better the escape room will be!!!! Pull upyo this warehouse that’s kind of in the middle of nothing and walk into their haunted lobby and enjoy :) No seriously - This was our first ever escape room at 13th Hour and clearly it sucked us in because now we’ve done them all and are HUGE FANS. We love their “John Hayden” series, and are actually happy we started with this room. Having the theme with the characters makes it so much more fun and helps it be a more immersive experience. It was challenging, a little spooky, and we loved how consistent the theme was! Our gamemaster was awesome (as is the entire team here) and we think doing this as a group of 4 was perf. Nothing beats 13th Hours little personal touches at the end too!

Such a fun room with a fun twist ending. The puzzles were difficult yet intriguing and the set design was phenomenal as always. This is one of the more cut and dry rooms I have done but nonetheless it was fun. Definitely was pleasantly surprised by this room and the GM, as well as other patrons in the lobby, told us it was hard but we succeeded with time to spare!

First of all, literally just the outside of the building got us pumped. Coolest/craziest lobby of an escape room ive seen honestly. Like it was an attraction in itself. We kept noticing stuff all over the room that genuinely freaked me out. I loved how professional and efficient our GM was. This room had a lot of creative elements I’ve never seen before that continuously wowed me. We found it pretty challenging for just 2 people. Liked that it was pretty nonlinear - ideally you could have different teams working on different puzzles. A few puzzles took a while to solve, like you had to concentrate for 5-10 minutes. We were running around frantically the whole time so the time went by super fast. We escaped (though im pretty sure she added on a couple extra minutes!) but we honestly deserved to lose this one (to be fair, it’s been a while and we were rusty!) our GM was super attentive and gave us hints at just the right times without us having to ask. Loved how the hints were like riddles that fit the story. There were a few things we never would have figured out on our own. Glad we got to escape even though we needed so much help because the ending had an unforgettable twist! Overall I am so excited this place has so many other rooms and cant wait to do them all!!
