Permanently Closed - Welcome aboard the U.S.S. Discovery. As civilian engineers, you’ve been given a singular opportunity to inspect a piece of living history. More than 900 years ago, this Crossfield-class starship represented state of the art 23rd century Starfleet technology. Your mission is to travel aboard Discovery while it makes a routine patrol, evaluating each of its systems in preparation for the host of upgrades the ship requires to bring it up to modern 32nd century standards. Discovery has collided with a quantum filament, causing major hull damage. Multiple hull breaches have been detected, and many power systems are malfunctioning or are offline. The filaments’ quantum resonance has caused a polarity shift in the antimatter containment system, leading to a progressive degeneration in the containment field. If field strength falls below 15%, it will collapse, destroying the vessel and everyone aboard. We’re currently operating under isolation protocols, which means the main computer has closed emergency bulkheads across the ship and the turbolift control system has been disabled, leaving the bulk of the crew trapped and unable to begin repairs.Your turbolift was stopped near the Auxiliary Control section. If you can override its systems and free yourselves, that makes you our best option for helping Discovery and its crew avoid this disaster. Your first order of business is escaping your turbolift and finding a way to communicate with senior members of the crew. If you can re-establish communications, you may be able to work together to repair the antimatter containment field before the strength falls below 15% which is projected to be in precisely 60 minutes time. If you’re successful, you’ll have saved Discovery and the entire crew. By modern standards, this 23rd century starship belongs in a museum, but its technology is all you have to help you take command of this situation. Can you complete your mission and save the ship? Discovery’s crew is counting on you. Failure is not an option...

Rating: 3/5 - Decent room for small groups (2-3 enthusiasts) and Star Trek or sci-fi fans. Pros: ➕Lots of tech, no padlocks ➕Some Star Trek Discovery references (specific to Discovery, not just Star Trek) ➕Puzzles were a good difficulty for our group of 2, flow was good Meh: ➖Besides the screens, the set felt a bit too generic and not particularly high quality ➖Nothing in the room was particularly cool or unique ➖Ending wasn't very climactic ➖Could've done more to tie in with the franchise, the puzzles felt generic Cons: ➖Touchscreens were laggy and not responsive enough ➖Too many puzzles were just entering digits, they could've been more creative with the touchscreens/tech ➖Game master wasn't very responsive and the initial clues provided were for things we already did Update: My ranking of all Escapology rooms I've played (multiple locations). 1. A Pirate's Curse - 3.5/5 2. Scooby-Doo - 3.5/5 3. Lost City - 3.5/5 4. Star Trek: Quantum Filament - 3/5 5. Th3 C0D3 - 3/5

Fun, highly tech focused room that leans into the sci-fi experience. While not as Star Trek specific as some may hope, there are fun Easter eggs for fans of Discovery. Star Trek knowledge is not needed to complete the room. Lovely gamemaster, and a welcoming facility. Most puzzles involve interaction with a computer interface. A few mechanical elements for those who like to work with their hands. Pro: High immersion into a sci-fi outer space world. Puzzles integrated well with the narrative. Cons: Puzzles fit standard expectations with no big "wow" moments. Missed opportunity for more star trek franchise connections. A lot for our group of two to do, but a big group might struggle with people standing around waiting on others.

Had a stellar time! It’s a tech-focused room with lots of screens that change over time, depending on which puzzle you’re on. I’m not even a big Star Trekkie, but I really enjoyed it as a sci-fi spaceship experience. I’m sure there were references I missed, although I’m not sure there were a lot, compared to their Scooby Doo room. There was one puzzle we didn’t like that we didn’t even technically solve as the room manually overrides the puzzle if you don’t finish it within a certain amount of time. The GM seemed to not know how to solve it either when we asked, so that was perplexing? Other than that, love how different stations make the group feel like they’re various crew members on the Discovery! Some puzzles felt unique as well, even though the last couple challenges weren’t as novel. I do think this one will be more hit or miss with people, but as far as I’m concerned, it should live long and prosper!

This is a good room for Star Trek fans. It is one of the better games from Escapology. It is a bit small and linear, so I would suggest 2 to 3 people only in this room. It does have some nice tech and the set design was nice as well. It is a solid game, but nothing to get too excited about.

This was probably our favorite room of this Escapology location thus far! Everything flowed so smoothly, and we got through the puzzles amazingly! There was one part we definitely didn’t expect! Great experience overall! Escapology Orland Park has been a pretty awesome company as a whole from the three rooms we’ve done so far!
