Old school escape room vibes, but the space was used brilliantly. Honestly more challenging than one might expect, and some of the text can be very small. Pretty solid room!

Reminded me of escape rooms before they added a lot of tech elements.

Beautiful theming. I loved the decorations in the historic building. Puzzles were mostly manual. Nothing too high tech

There was one puzzle that wasn’t locked in and my group spent some time trying to solve a puzzle for it. The GM did handle it well.

Found this to be the most obscure of the rooms here. Interesting theming and a solid payoff but some of the actual puzzling felt more chore than fun

We played this right after Jazz Parlor which is a follow-up in the overarching storyline. It's an older game, mostly mechanical, but don't let that stop you. This was an enjoyable experience. I will say it's quite a bit easier than Jazz Parlor and we breezed right through with at least twenty minutes to spare. (Glad we did too, because that let us return to Parlor and play the bonus puzzles-see my other review.) MG Study had a very nice flow and all puzzles made sense & were pretty intuitive. The room matched the overall company, a room in an eclectic New Orleans mansion. Escape My Room is a fun company to check out if you are in New Orleans. I'd recommend you do both Parlor and Study. We didn't do their Smuggler's Den due to a time crunch and it seemed the high reviews came from a the novelty of a dark room. From a story standpoint, Parlor first. From an easy to hard plan, Study first.

You're trying to get a message out before it's too late. Fortunately for you, the madame is a fan of puzzles and has her place setup so that only the best can reach her. As you explore her place, it's filled with her collections and nods to New Orleans. It's a charming and fun experience with much to do in the hour. Would suggest for just 3, since it is a small space. They have a beautiful lobby with puzzles to solve while you wait and their decor and vibes will have you entranced the whole time. If you need a post spot hangout. They're directly connected to a bar who will get you discounts if you mention them and a small food spot.

The Mardi Gras Study was pretty linear with fun mechanical puzzles. Very family friendly and entertaining for beginners. Would love to try out their other rooms next time!

The design of the lobby and room are wonderful. So much immersion and props. The room itself is fun. Some of the puzzles didn’t work great (maybe not reset properly?) but our game master was quick to notice and fix it. A lot of clever puzzles. A good mix of lock, keys, and other solving methods.

A frame we barely touched fell off the wall and the mod was pretty mad at us. A couple of the activities didn’t make sense and we skipped some stuff and still progressed. 2 of the locks didn’t work and we were stuck. Had it worked we would have escaped.

  • The room was delightfully quirky and not like anything I’d ever seen before.

    The Escape Roomer
  • The Mardi Gras Study’s mechanisms were a solid execution of a standard escape room
