The DeLaporte Family coffers have run dry and the city is threatening to put the house up for a tax sale. You are called to investigate the dark and cramped wine cellar, as it was rumored that Silver Dollar Sam and his band of rum runners once used it as a storehouse. Can you find enough loot to help save the DeLaporte home, or will you be stuck forever by one of the many booby traps?

WILL NOT RETURN. Stabbed by a random screw on the floor while crawling around in the dark. Customer service afterward was pretty bad. Pitch dark room meant to require you to feel around in the dark to solve puzzles, but my hand was punctured by a screw randomly lying on the floor. It wasn’t too bad but skin was slightly punctured. This wasn’t a big deal although I sort of lost my trust of continuing to crawl around on the floor, I would have overlooked it but the customer service afterward and attitude toward us was just not right. After the incident I alerted the GM just to let them know. They forced us to exit mid-game, even though we said not to and we were fine, they then opened up the door, spoiling the room puzzles to us by illuminating everything, which in this kind of room the puzzle is the darkness. And then as the whole ordeal took probably 5-10 minutes of distraction, talking, her walking up and then us getting back into the game, and then me being cautious and extra slow the rest of the time. In a 45 min room that’s a big loss of time. She offered us TWO minutes additional time. But we said “we’re almost done, can we just have five more minutes to finish” to which she argued rudely with us about a dozen reasons to say no, and refused to give us any more time, we were offered no refund, and instead were invited to play more games later without being offered a discount. Nothing accommodating at all. Here’s the math though. Game time is 45 min, they book every 90 minutes and had three staffed employees meaning that there was one employee per game, meaning they were fully staffed… however the employee argued that they “had other games after us” but there is a 45 minute reset time, so we bumped into *nobody* and excuses ranged from they didn’t “have the staff to accommodate such a request or more game time” and they needed to “help each orher” we were simply not allowed to finish. It was 5 minutes we wanted. We collected 80 of the items to “solve” it. Least they could do. We didn’t even demand a refund. Just wanted to have fun after all we flew here *for* this puzzle on a recommendation from a blogger. But in a weird turn of events despite the supposed game time limitation we couldn’t get five minutes this girl Heidi offered to us “want to see what the room looked like in the light to see what you missed” and then we spent 5 minutes LOOKING AROUND WITH HER *FACEPALM* when we could have completed the room in that same time. On the same topic five minutes was spent arguing with us about not giving us five minutes, and then after many minutes getting us to pose on the couch with signs for the obligatory instagram photo afterward most companies get you to take. In this time we could have just finished the damn room… with a 45 min reset time, five minutes and we don’t require a refund, is not at all a huge ask. I even offered to buy the next game just so we could finish. But was told they “were booked” This girl honestly just wanted us gone. I have never seen an escape room host just shuttle you through like this. And not that we wanted it, but even after the incident there was refund or discount or coupon offered, nothing. We eventually got a phone call later that night while we were long gone from the area from the same employee asking us if we’d like to come back to play more rooms - but it was the same GM and hours too late… weird we weren’t offered a game on the house while we were there. I hate to say this but this is the worst escape room experience I have ever had. The room itself while novel, would have received decent reviews had there not been any “issues” but the experience starts and ends at the establishment’s door, not the room you are escaping. Overall: 3/10 stars. Customer service is part of the experience Pros: One star for the novel approach to darkness, one for the thematic elements and entryway set design and character acting one for the fact we were having fun until the interruption. Cons: Minus one for Sharp object on floor Unaccommodating staff Management not present or offering refunds or ample additional time due to a forced interruption of our game. The dark puzzles while neat didn’t fit the theme theme in general was kind of lacking as was a story, it was just a “collect x things” room Game time was too short for two and room was too small for more than four people so it should be 60 not 45 minutes
No flow at all. It’s a dark room and puzzles are not connected. You just are collecting things and that’s the end once you collect them all.
Outside waiting area was well done, it poised to be one of the best experiences we thought we’d have - shame
They should be serious coached both on safety and customer service
Yes
Novel approach to having a fully dark room the puzzles required other senses.
Non existent. The story was a few sentences and essentially you just collected things in the dark.

Pros: - Puzzle dense - All dark room, a rare find - GM (babs) was incredible, relatable and friendly, but perfect dry and lanky behavior that fit the character she was playing Cons: - After first room, not much theme at all - Wish there was nothing on the floor, it’s a safety hazard to crawl and get stepped on - Got a little bruised cuz stuff kept falling on me - Ends abruptly 7/10 (solid, might recommend out of novelty) (Honestly the GM would bump this to an 8)

Overall, this was a fun room. It was our first dark room experience so we went in with an open mind and were pleasantly surprised with the puzzles. They were very easy and straightforward if you had light, but the lack of light made it a new experience. Communication is a must. I felt that there could’ve been more in terms of decoration or puzzle- we finished comfortably. The GM was amazing and stayed in character. Things that would’ve affected immersion were dealt with humorously. Would recommend but wouldn’t go out of my way for if I’m not in NOLA.
Flowed well overall. The dark room aspect made it more novel.
The lit aspect was cool and made you feel like you were in a cellar (part of the theme). The dark room felt sparse but was impressively dark. Didn’t really feel like I was in a cellar - can’t say about looks
GM (crookshanks) was amazing!

Loved this room. When I was reading the reviews, I was under the impression that the experience would be in half darkness, and half light. After having done this room now, I would say that it's more 80-20. To escape successfully, you would need to communicate! Ideal number of players is 4-5. This room feels different than the other rooms I've done with Esape My Room and could thematically be a stand alone. Nevertheless, the puzzles were not too hard. The difficulty increases because of how dark the rooms are!

Fantastic 45min room! The theming of the entire building is well done. We saw some different clues and puzzles and being in the dark amps everything up a notch. Definitely recommend to seasoned escapers!

We typically shy away from rooms that have low light or are dim. However, the 2nd part of this one is completely pitch black… you have to rely on feeling around and communicating verbally with your team. Very neat concept.

Loved playing an escape room in the dark, I was a 45 min room and I wished it was longer.
