344 escape rooms
My view of Escape Hotel is that they have good puzzles, but the execution is lacking. The storylines and puzzles are not cohesive which leaves room for gaps in logic. This room was the most confusing and illogical of the three I've played, but it was a fun idea - you're basically playing Clue and discovering the who, how, where of a murder mystery. The problem is the solution is really a logical leap. Solving for the murder weapon and room of the house was quite fun, but the reveal of the murderer really didnt make sense. The murderer ultimately was the person who laid out the clue for how to solve the murder weapon and then also left a clue about their own identity...why would they do that? We were also supposed to perceive a motive put of a pair of photographs which really would not make sense until they explain it to you after the game. It's worth playing for the puzzles, but not the best on offer at Escape Hotel or São Paulo. A few fun puzzles I'll remember: -A DVD-poetry chess puzzles -The records/LPs/albums puzzles -The ringing phones puzzle - this was by far the coolest and most fun part of the room :)
Gameplay
The puzzles were good, but there was not a good flow. The "solution" was nonsensical.

One puzzledidn't trigger ("the LPs puzzle) and the GM didn't notice. Ultimately she just triggered it for us and we lost several minutes.

Sort of... a guy dressed as Sherlock Holmes introduces you to the game. Confusingly, the game has nothing to do with Sherlock Holmes and everything to do with the game Clue. So, a bit of IP-mixing, but it was a nice intro!
