Throughout pirate lore, there are tales of supernatural gem that could tame the stormiest of seas. Known as the Kraken’s Eye, this legendary jewel has been fought over by every pirate that sailed the oceans. Yet, owning the gem is fraught with peril. The Kraken’s Eye is said to be cursed. It yields unlimited power but eventually spells doom for whoever commands it. Today, a quiet coastal community has been thrown into chaos, as a massive and brutal storm has descended over their town and thunderous weather threatens to wipe away the town. With no other options, the townsfolk decide to gamble on a myth – is the Kraken’s Eye buried within the wreckage of a nearby pirate ship? The Siren’s Fury – captained by the treasure-thirsty pirate Barnabas Blackheart – is a twisted maze of booby traps, puzzles and pirate challenges. The gem may be cursed, but Blackheart would not give it up so easily. None have dared enter the doomed vessel… until now. In Curse of the Kraken’s Eye, your team will enter Captain Blackheart’s ship and come face-to-face with his devious devices. Through the prison room, cannon armory, and captain’s quarters, you will race against the clock to solve the captain’s tricks. Succeed, and you will earn the Kraken’s Eye and save your town. Fail, and you’ll become a permanent crewman aboard the Siren’s Fury.

Like all the games at Gatlin’s Escape Games, the set for this room was fantastic. It felt like you were on an actual pirate ship and progressing through its huge interior. The set design was strong, the story was okay, and the puzzle flow was a little bit rough. Of the 3 at this location that we played, this room was our least favorite. It may also have something to do with the fact our GM was constantly breaking immersion with random comments- he was very friendly, I just got the impression he was bored and wanted to chat. Unfortunately, escape rooms aren’t conducive to that kind of constant chatter… The intro projection feature was really cool and we loved the ropes puzzle. We also had fun with their “divorce” puzzle, it did require a decent amount of teamwork, but it was enjoyable! We were led to believe there would be a lot of communication puzzles in this room, but didn’t really find that to be the case. Parts of this room are probably easier with a team of 4, but it was totally doable with 2 with time to spare! We did feel that there was a lot of searching in all 3 rooms, but it was more difficult searching in this room, which I wasn’t personally a fan of .There were a couple broken props in the room, including some that were pivotal to completing a puzzle. This threw us off for a while, until we asked the GM if it was broken and he said yes… hopefully they fix that soon. There were also a few puzzles that had me thinking “why??,” their signposting being minimal and not enough direction provided. I think there were about 4 puzzles that had some mechanic that wasn’t well thought out. If the company was open to feedback, I’d love to see what they could continue to do with this room because the set has it all.

Gold teeth were missing- pivotal to a puzzle. Our GM had to inform us the prop was broken so advised to “imagine” it wasn’t…

A fun and semi challenging pirate game. Stellar set and great service. Besides being a common theme this pirate game is better than most! Enjoyed the experience and theatrics!

The puzzles were fun and for the most part made perfect sense in the moment, the atmosphere was great and the theming was on point! There weren’t a lot of flashy parts but when it wowed it really wowed. There are some issues that we had but in the grand scheme of things we dismissed most of them as being nit picky.

This is a very fun room. The details are amazing. There are a few puzzles that I haven’t seen before. The game master there was wonderful. He asked before we started if we wanted him to “nudge” us if we were getting too far off. He was able to do that without giving anything away.

Josh absolutely made our time here. We had a few game malfunctions in our first in second rooms so to apologize they gave us two free games and mini golf. Overall the rooms were great and our guides Desi and Ellis were excellent. Definitely higher quality and service than the Gatlinburg location! :)

Gameplay

Great game, had a lot of variation with puzzles and some non linear points that made it interesting

This company blew me away. There is only the one room for now at this location, but I recommend them if you want an immersive experience. They put a lot of thought into the effects and story. The puzzles are like ones we’ve never done. Can’t wait for the other rooms to open here.

This room was very well done. The puzzles made sense, theming was great and there were lots of rooms with a variety of puzzles. Our game host Steven was also very helpful and fun highly recommend.

Gameplay

Every puzzle made sense and there was a good variety of styles.

Atmosphere

Sets were great and different sound effects really enhanced game play.

Customer service

Loved our game host, Steven. He was funny and helpful without giving too much away.

We had 6 which was almost a little too heavy I think 4 would be just right. A little too challenging for 2 people.

My partner and I love to do escape rooms whenever we travel. We’ve done over 50 total thus far. This week we’re on vacation to visit the Great Smoky Mountains and while we are here we’ve done games at most of the escape rooms in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. I will definitely say that the three Gatlin’s Escape locations have been the best experiences thus far game wise with excellent effects and puzzles/props as well as pretty good story lines. Only negative is that the rooms are not private unless you pay more. Personally we were able to get 3 games today with out anyone else joining our games. We suggest holding off on signing up for the game until you get a little closer to the scheduled time if you want to aim for a private room. All three game masters were great today but special shout out to Alice from the Pigeon Forge location (where we played Kraken’s Eye) for being super personable and knowing when to hold clues and when to give them to make it a challenging but not frustrating experience. We’ve done The Kraken’s Eye, the Masters of Magic and Big Maw Bertha’s rooms today. Hoping to squeeze in Hyde House and Atlantis before we leave!
