"Murder at the Grand Hotel" is the first room at Escape Room Randers, which you can easily see when comparing their rooms. That being said, we were quite entertained. A murder has been committed at the city's hotel in room number 13. Unfortunately for Uncle Erik, he has been convicted of the murder and is scheduled for execution in 1 hour. As relatives of Uncle Erik, we know he could never commit a murder, so we must break into the crime scene and find out who the real murderer is before an hour passes. When you step into the room, you step into the 1930s on a dark and stormy night. The lighting is dim, and the body outline on the floor quickly sets the mood for rescuing Uncle Erik. Fortunately, flashlights are available, so even though the lighting is dim, it's not too challenging to work with the puzzles. There are some "do not touch" signs and visible wires that break the illusion, but overall, they have created a well-made hotel setting. Looking at the puzzles, there is a good variety and several nice surprises hidden in the room. You need to maintain a big picture view, as you quickly come across many things that need to be kept track of. The setup in the room is primarily linear, but the many details and puzzles provide plenty to engage with once you get started. We were 4 people in the room, and we all felt engaged most of the time.
