A challenging room for sure… lots of puzzles given to you right away without the ability to solve them until later, which can be overwhelming. Fun storyline that made several nods to Jurassic Park. Most challenging room 60 to Escape has to offer. Fun choice ending!

So a heads up. While anywhere else, this would be a standout game, I was not very enthused on this one, it was my least favorite. It's not a must-avoid, in fact, I still gave it a thumbs up, but there were issues. First off, there's a lot to do. And it's thrown in your face all-at-once. Which is probably why the flow felt off. The game is semi-linear, but the best games let you discover them with one leading to another and so on. What's even crazier is that their other games successfully do this. The puzzles themselves were well themed, but not that intuitive. And without spoiling anything, the end felt very out of place. The whole game is based off of the Jurassic Park movies, yet it was as if they wanted to show off a random special effect that seemed a little too sci-fi for a game related to those dinosaur movies. All in all, things just felt clunky. all in all, things just felt clunky. 60 to Escape is one of Chicago's best companies (although it's a 45 minute drive from downtown, but worth the drive) and it's in a Mall. If you are there, definitely do Cheesie's and Lockbuster and throw in Arctic and Magic. Time permitting, add Mystery Manor, but I would put this one as the lowest priority. If you do do it, bring your crew. There's a lot to solve.

Jurassic Outpost was our final room at 60 to Escape Woodfield we needed to experience, and it was solid as usual. Jurassic played most similarly to Magic Heist, and there were little easter eggs to many of their other rooms and the original JP movie, which made searching fun. Jurassic is the hardest room at the Woodfield location, with a good amount of puzzles to work through, but we did not panic, finishing with just under 1 minute. Many puzzles were similar to the Woodfield location’s other rooms (which was fine) and we really enjoyed the skeeball puzzle. Although there were a lot of props and puzzles, the flow of the room was good as we seemed to always know what to work on next. There was lots of tech in the room and you had to pay attention to what you uncovered after completing a puzzle, as things sometimes open up slowly/softly. The final sequence in the room delivered a cool experience. Customer Service at Woodfield continued to be fantastic and our GM (Caroline) had great energy and provided us 2 nudges at just the right time, but we really did not need much assistance. I appreciate knowing that your GM at the Woodfield location will always be actively monitoring your room, as they are very quick to deliver a clue when you ask. Looking forward to experiencing the Woodfield location’s new room opening up in late 2025 or early 2026

A solid game from 60 to Escape, great flow and multilinear. A bit on the difficult side. Fun story beats, clean gameplay and cinematics. Definitely worth the play!!

There's a lot of promise to this game, but the implementation is a letdown. There were some things I liked: Dinosaur themes are neat, my inner child was pleased. The finale was neat - I saw it coming, but it was still executed nicely. The set is great to look at, and the room feels dense with things to do and explore. The biggest flaw with this room is (lack of) feedback: both when something happens and when something's not happening. There was a point in the game when we did the right thing and didn't realize anything had triggered/changed, so kept trying to do it (the GM eventually had to point it out to us). There was a point in the game when we were doing the right thing but not quite in the way the game wanted, but we didn't realize our input wasn't being read at all so kept trying to do it. Both failure modes are frustrating -- you can't tell if stuff is working but you haven't noticed, stuff isn't working because your input is being parsed differently than what you think, or stuff isn't working because you're totally on the wrong path. I thought the room was unnecessarily dim. Dimness might make sense in a horror room or to spotlight particular parts of the set, but I don't enjoy squinting to make out details - darkness shouldn't be a puzzle. Because of all this, Jurassic Outpost was my least favorite of the games at 60 to Escape Schaumburg. It's a shame, because some small tweaks would make it much more enjoyable.

Rating: 3.5/5 - Enjoyable room, but there are better rooms at 60 to Escape. Pros: ➕ The set was detailed and fairly immersive with good use of lighting/sound ➕ Had easter eggs from their other rooms and Jurassic Park ➕ Mostly tech based puzzles with only a couple of padlocks, but they were used where appropriate ➕ Strong theming, almost everything was dino related ➕ Cool ending with something I've yet to see in the other 150+ rooms I've done ➕ They let you choose the ending to the story ➕ More than 1 room to explore ➕ GM was friendly and helpful Could be better: ➖ No animatronics like in some of their other rooms (they set the bar too high for themselves 😂) ➖ I didn't love the puzzles, nothing stood out to me as particularly interesting or fun (but nothing bad either). They tend to do a lot of "figure out the order or "put in the right position" type puzzles. ➖ Too many puzzles/items are available before you have everything to solve them, this leads to a lot of wasted time. The GM warned us about some of it though. It's playable as a team of two, I'd recommend 3-4. It feels like one of their more difficult rooms. Update: My ranking of 60 to Escape rooms (all locations) so far starting with my favorite. 1. Lockbuster Video ❤️ 2. Cheesie's Pizza Party ❤️ 3. Invasion ❤️ 4. Pirates Curse ❤️ 5. Mystery Manor ❤️ 6. Hidden Temple ❤️ 7. Blast From The Past 👍 8. Jurassic Outpost 👍 9. Arctic Expedition 👍 10. Magic Heist 👍

Cute theming and a great room overall. Ranked as their hardest room online but is certainly not the most difficult by our experience. It was smaller than expected but had fun theming and a good storyline. Fun puzzles albeit a bit straightforward for experienced players.

My least favorite room here, but still a good experience if you’re a Dino fan!

Gameplay

This may be my least favorite here for gameplay. Some of the puzzles were more frustrating than fun, and when you ask for a hint and just get the answer because it’s too hard to explain. That’s a good indication that it’s not a good puzzle in my opinion.

Atmosphere

Atmosphere was great! 60 to escape is on point with set design.

Customer service

No

No, but if you’re a Dino lover, it’s definitely worth a play through!

Story

Despite it being my least favorite room, I actually did enjoy the story on this one.

Difficulty

Hard

Hard to expert… What I feel makes a good expert room is a quantity of good intuitive puzzles. This one I felt was more difficult because of counter intuitive puzzles. When you figure out a hard puzzle it should be, “Oh duh, I should have thought of that”, not “Oh, well that was dumb”. I didn’t thumbs down this room because I did love the theme and story, but the puzzles could use some work.

Fun, yet challenging room. The set design is awesome. I would rate this more of an 8 for difficulty, rather than the 9 they gave it. Overall a fun room with some interesting puzzles.
