My group and I are a big fan of Game Over and we had a fantastic time playing Temple of the Skull! It was my partner’s second time completing the room and my first, I’m usually wary of ‘temple’ themed rooms as they can become kitschy and a bit repetitive. But I think Game Over did a fantastic job of making theirs unique, I also always enjoy how their rooms have a perfect balance of manual locks and more high-tech elements. Huge props to our game master, she was a riot!

Since we finished another room here in 36 minutes, we decided to do another: this one. Again the set was really nice but I just didn’t have fun. It was extremely linear, not a room you can “divide and conquer”. We needed a ton of clues to walk us through it because we kept missing the point of each puzzle. We would do what we were supposed to do but then weren’t understanding what the solution was pointing to, if that makes sense. Had great potential with the set design but overall didn’t like it.

Has a fun little moment you don’t expect ERs to let you have.

A nice surprise with great set design, cool moody atmosphere, and some puzzles with steep difficulty, yet very creative and unique in their execution. Two puzzles I won’t spoil, but you’ll know them when you see them. They are standouts, one being really funny, and another very clever. The whole experience is a great one! The gameplay does require some out of the box thinking, and I will say some of the puzzles would maybe be a tad too hard for casual players. Save for one puzzle (whose elements are literally impossible to come across without help), nothing is too difficult to figure out. A bit vague maybe, but you’re there to explore and examine! These are temple ruins after all! Lastly, our GMs were great, fun, engaging and one of the highlights of our experience. Probably some of the best GMs we’ve ever had at any escape room, ever! If you like challenging rooms, check this one out.

Vague and ambiguous is not the same thing as challenging or hard.

This was the worse experience at an escape room ever. I tried to call and rectify as the game keeper could not help us and we couldn’t understand her clues when she did. But yet, offered hints when we didn’t was any. She also said not to do something very specific in the room, but yet it was essential to the game. So, I asked to speak to a manager because after 100 escape rooms and $180 for this one… I felt they should know. They offered me 20% off. I accepted and didn’t receive the code via text as they said I would. I called and booked another room and was told they’d refund me 20% when I got there. When we got there, they had removed our booking all together. Yet, didn’t refund the money. They tried to fix that by putting us in another room. We did orient express and afterwords the manager stormed in and accused me of lying about the 20% coupon and shoving his phone in my face and accusing me of not paying. He was beyond rude. Will not go back. Which is a shame because game over is usually excellent.
