The Collector

The Collector is a serial killer room that specializes in committing escape room sins. Firstly, the maintenance leaves many props work to show what’s in play, but then the wear also renders it difficult to read or solve the puzzle. Second, half of the room uses darkness as a difficulty gate, which means you’ll either struggle with a dim flashlight or have to drag everything into the light. Lastly, this room’s calling card is its flagrant use of unsignposted escape room logic. Why are you doing this? Because! Why should you use this object? Why not?! This isn’t to say that there isn’t fun to be had, but this serial killer will target your buzz, so be warned.

I wouldn’t rate this room as expert difficulty, but it is a fun theme with a good flow. It’s very difficult o fall off track in this room because you have self paced clues. My boyfriend and I did this one. I would say 2-3 people is the perfect size for this room!

Ugh. I initially liked this room but it started to get bad. Well over a dozen puzzles (which is a lot for a 60 minute room) but they STOPPED being intuitive for the second half of the game. The hint system is a bit wonky (takes you out of the immersion) & the final lock wasn’t working but the gamemaster heard us say the code, so stopped the clock. Also, there was a random moment for the game to stop being serial killer, and I think there was a ghost of a victim, but then they stopped using that.

The team members here were so amazing! The puzzles were interesting. And they found a way to personalize the room toward me by blood plattering my name on a paper.
