201 escape rooms
The Secret of the Magic Trail by FunXperience Bad Oeynhausen was our 7th escape room of the Germany tour and 4th of a packed day, played with our usual group of 3. This is a classic Harry Potter-inspired experience that starts strong with a very enthusiastic GM who sets the tone during a charming intro, including some light roleplay—you’re asked to pick a wand and wear a robe before stepping into the magical world. Once inside, you’re immediately immersed in beautifully crafted environments. The first few sections are especially well themed, with detailed props, immersive lighting and sound effects, and a strong atmosphere. Some rooms you pass through quickly, even though they look fantastic. One later space felt a little out of place thematically, but it was still enjoyable and well-puzzled. Notably, the room is fully automated—there are no padlocks at all, and the transitions and triggers work smoothly to keep you immersed. The puzzles are nicely varied and blend well with the environment. We were pleasantly surprised by the high quality, especially considering the venue also hosts Laser Tag and Neon Golf. Expectations were modest, but this room easily surpassed them. Recommended for all player levels, especially Harry Potter fans. A fun, immersive experience that’s worth a visit if you’re in the area.
