Arr, matey! Can you beat the sunset curse before it’s too late? Captain Goldbeard has spent years voyaging the seas in hopes of acquiring treasures beyond his wildest dreams. But one night, many moons ago, the Captain and his crew landed themselves in troubled water embarking on a quest where few others dare go, aboard an abandoned ship laden with treasure, known as ‘The Soul Catcher’. You only have one hour to break the curse before the sun sets beyond the horizon or you will be left prisoner aboard The Soul Catcher for eternity—and with no escape! Do you have what it takes to find the hidden treasure and beat the deadly sunset curse or will you become the next prisoner of The Soul Catcher?

Good pirate room. Puzzles often felt satisfying to complete. The hint system needs improvement. There was just a delay in the hints, meaning the stuff written on the screen were unhelpful because we already did the part it thinks we’re stuck on. The hint system problem is just an Escapology thing - not something I see anywhere else. I’d say this is a good room overall despite the annoying hint system. It wasn’t super hard, but sometimes it’s good to sprinkle in some more easy going rooms to balance out more challenging escape rooms. The one big issue I have is when there’s cultural assumptions made. Like perhaps someone who didn’t grow up knowing pirate slang. All escape rooms should be able to be self contained without needing any prior cultural knowledge. This is a positive review with just a bit of reflection on how it can be improved.

A lot of clues built into a very small area. Game broken up into three sections. Puzzles and section number one were fun and easy and made you want to continue with the game. The puzzles and section 2 were a little frustrating. One walk, didn’t work and the game master just gave us the answer instead of giving us a clue. You better be good at word scrambling. Some locks were positioned in small tight corners that were dimly lit so you couldn’t see the numbers you were turning to. The third room was dimly lit as well and made placements a little difficult. Overall me and my husband would rate the pirates curse 6/10

Gameplay

Some locks didn’t work. Couldn’t get a feel for the flow.

Atmosphere

Good set designs. Lots of puzzles for such a small area.

Customer service

Customer service was good. Game master felt a little checked out. Only gave us hints on what HE wanted to give us hints for, not what I was asking for a hint on.

Was anything broken?

Yes

1 lock/puzzle didn’t work. Game master saw us struggling for so long on a broken lock that he just gave us the answer instead of a clue.

Good mix of mechanical puzzles and high tech. This room was solidly difficult. A few hints were needed and I’m glad we took them. Pet peeve - the start instruction and story videos were so f-ing long.

Second room I’ve done here, and better than the first for sure. Room looked great, fun puzzles and set design (although nothing mind-blowing). Make sure you have someone who can actually see colors, though. My colorblind ass struggled on multiple puzzles, unfortunately.

They manage to fit quite a few puzzles into a s my small-ish space. The overall game experience was fine, although there were a few locks that were tucked into dark corners that made it very difficult to see.

This is a small room like the others, but the puzzles are pretty fun except for one but that’s because it’s a bit hard to see and a little unclear. The theming is good.
