Agatha Christie's Murder On The Orient Express

Have completed 25+ rooms. This one felt unintuitive, the hints we were given were irrelevant and misleading, and several of the puzzles did not work the way they should’ve. Game master also was very inattentive and did not pick us up at the end, which has never happened. I was very disappointed with my experience.

So unfortunately this room was marred by a lack of proper reset from the crew here. Trains are a good spot for an escape room to take place so my group was excited going in. However, the first puzzle took us 15 minutes and that does not happen to us - we are experienced players and knew we had spent an abnormal amount of time on one puzzle. We were prompted with a clue (another pet peeve of ours; don’t give us a clue unless we ask for one) and made it to the next room. There we find pieces of the overarching puzzle and a paper we realized WOULD’VE helped us in the first room. Essentially two papers had swapped places and we looked stupid just because we didn’t have the information that would’ve helped us in the first place. We hate being the people to complain too, but even after the game bringing it up to the GM seemed moot as they brushed it off with a half-hearted ‘sorry’ and led us on our way. The experience wasn’t terrible but for our second Escapology room, they started to feel formulaic and detached compared to the ground-up escape rooms feel.

For the room itself, you are the great detective charged with solving yet another case. Watching the movie right before hand helps with the theme of everything. The puzzles felt different and overall flowed together. The gamemaster led us astray a few times with hint giving, and we had one button that broke on us but we still managed to escape by the end of it all.

Escapology has been typically high budget, poor design, beginner-level gameplay, but this room did a pretty decent job of creating challenging puzzles that utilizes a little more thinking and followed along with the theme of being on the orient express. This was noted as their most difficult room in this location

Straightforward linear room. Puzzles were fun but won't challenge the very experienced room fans. Still, we were told this was the hardest of their rooms. We escaped as a team of 2 and I was entertained the whole way through so that puts it in the happy box for me!

One of this locations toughest rooms, good amount of puzzles that require some careful thinking and problem solving. Good with four people.

The theming was gorgeous! Props were high quality. Puzzles were challenging but cool once you learn how to do it. We got plenty of hints but I’m glad because I wanted to finish it.

Our recent experience left me with mixed feelings. While the room itself offered stellar storytelling and high production, it fell short in certain areas, resulting in a lukewarm overall impression. Upon entering the room, I could not help but appreciate the effort put into the ambiance. The train compartment exuded the vintage charm. However, my initial excitement began to wane as the puzzles unfolded. One of our buttons was broken and we alerted the game master that we could not complete the puzzle because the buttons could not be pressed. One of our team members had to leave the room to get their attention after multiple attempts to communicate with them through the video. This took about five minutes of our time, from the time we started communicating that the button was broken to the time that another staff member came in to rectify the sitauation, so that felt frustrating. The puzzles were coherent and leaned more into the push-lever element - with a lot more reading. It was your classic whodunit where you need to figure out the murder weapon, the opportunity, and the motive. Once you solve a puzzle, something else will open. A consistent drawback for us were the clues given by the game master. Unlike my other escape room experiences, where the game master's guidance can enhance the experience, our encounter here was notably lacking. We asked for a clue and we were given a clue that was not helpful at all. We had to exhaust our three clues, because the first clues were not helpful and our game master only realized that we had the puzzles solved after all. Overall, this esape room offers a decent diversion for those seeking a casual puzzle-solving experience. If you are a fan of Agatha Christie, you should check it out!
