After being recommended Cubic from another enthusiast we decided to give these guys a shot and I ended up having a pretty good time for the most part. Memento carries a theme which I've seen a few rooms tackle now with varying results, piecing together the scattered memories of the story's troubled protagonist. From the get-go it was clear how much the experience leaned into the narrative elements, quickly weaving its characters and personalities into each solve, a welcome approach on my end. The real standout space for me would have to be the black and white, cartoon-esque kitchen which had so many fun interactive puzzles and clever story beats, in my opinion the entire room could've followed this style of design and I wouldn't have any complaints. Unfortunately what lets Memento down is the very element which drives it forward, the story. By about the halfway point I was left pretty confused by just what we were following and why. The style of voice over, animation and character relationships shifted seemingly at random, with a couple puzzles feeling super out of place in terms of difficulty and logic. Overall it became increasingly difficult to connect to the emotional nature of the narrative which is a shame because it's clear that's something these guys value. Not a bad room by any stretch but definitely felt a bit disjointed and anti-climactic by the end. I've also heard Cubic's newer room Soul Catcher is a more complete experience, so stay tuned for that.

/ma' mentou/ - [me - men • to] an object kept as a reminder of a person or event. Definitely an experience I won’t soon forget. Having read some reviews prior to booking I was still pretty unsure of what to expect going in to Memento and afterwards I remain pretty unsure. The first maybe half of this room is pretty solid. The puzzles flow and make decent sense and the sketchbook style room in the middle is very cool. It is a lock free room so every puzzle solved activated/opened something automatically in the room. The tech worked well and even though it was a bit goofy in parts we still had a good time. The game did however, begin to unravel a bit in its closing act. A pretty strange final code that lead to a 3 minute or so story finale break. I think this was meant to tie the room together but probably left us more confused than anything. Inconsistencies between the names of the characters and story also probably didn’t help.

A unique little room with some interesting ideas and puzzles. Each space had a different design, and offered fragments of a story that tugged at the heartstrings. However, I think our team's brains were still in "puzzle-solving" mode and not quite wired to "story comprehension" mode, so we found the narrative somewhat hard to follow. Players into narrative-driven rooms and those who can relate to the story would probably enjoy it more.

The more rooms I do at cubic the greater appreciation I have for what they offer. Unlike other escape rooms that pride themselves on the difficulty of their puzzles, or production value... The rooms at cubic are imo about the story and the aim is not to beat the clock but rather to engage your imagination and let the story unfold before you, guided through the rooms like a witness through someones memory. Momento is one of those rooms and it's the first escape room I left feeling attached to the characters. Well done cubic escape

5/10. The room looked cool and everything made sense but it was very different in a way that I didn’t love. It is however one of only two escape rooms that I’ve ever cried in.

A narrative/story-telling based room with high tech locks. Well designed with quality props, good flow with some clever puzzles. Not much of a challenge for experienced players but we did enjoy the room.

Two were sent in to investigate And mend a mind before it's too late. To resolve some trauma of a family’s We wandered through vividly built memories. A linear room with a focus on narrative. No locks. Great props. Hi-tech and interactive. We liked when things were black and white. Just don't forget to check your sight.

An enjoyable room I did with my partner. This room was more narrative based, puzzles were linear and there were no locks at all. Everything in the room used mechanisms. We liked the design and aesthetics of one room in particular. Wasn't a too challenging in terms of difficulty.

Good escape room, there isn't a single lock in this room and all the puzzles are electronic based. Very narrative based and the ending is actually kinda funny. (It's supposed to be sad)
