Great room with some fantastic tech and fun puzzles! Not a 'race to the finish' room, much more experiential. Staff member Austin was a legend, too. Highly recommended for fans of Escape Rooms as an art form. This room is the work of passionate people!

Gameplay

Good flow and opportunities for all players to be working on puzzles simultaneously. Exploration was incredibly rewarding and the room rolled out in a very satisfying way.

Atmosphere

Tremendously immersive, you can tell it was made by passionate people.

Customer service

GM Austin was the best, really fun and friendly. Had a great chat about mechanics and general escape room-y things after our session.

Absolutely phenomenal room, anyone who is a fan of Alien, 2001: A Space Odyssey or that classic 80's space opera style will love this game. Very fun and interactive, so many different styles of puzzles and great engagement for groups. 10/10 would recommend and I cannot wait to see how these rooms grow!

One of the best escape rooms in terms of storyline and the flow of the puzzles! Everything made logical sense in being there, which made the immersion even better. There is a real sense of mystery and urgency. I especially enjoyed the special touch of having the GM communicate through a typed comms log.

Sent aboard with our mission from Starlight Mission Command our team had a ball working through all the trials and turns as we moved forward. I think I was most impressed with the attention to detail with the puzzles all thematic to not only the space we were working in (literally) but also the underlying narrative. This story flowed well through the game culminating in a grand moral decision. I was engaged the entire time wondering what little pieces of lore we’d uncover as we went along. It’s rare to find a room where having more players feels necessary but there is more than enough content to warrant a group of at least 4. Jack was a great host and was happy to field our many, many questions. Earthrise One is a great example of balancing thematic puzzles, storyline, and a great interactive set design. It’s clear it was designed by people passionate about the industry and the quality of product they are putting out. Bring your friends, bring your family, bring whoever you can. Just go and experience Earthrise One.

Having played just about every single escape room in Melbourne I can confidently say this is amongst the best you’ll find. Earthrise One is such a beautifully crafted and technologically impressive game which still takes the time to immersive players in an intricate, high-stakes storyline. With such a clever use of space, props, clueing and puzzle flow there was never a dull moment as myself and my crew did our best to save humanity through constant communication and teamwork. There is so much to love about this room and the team over at Earthrise and I’m very excited to try out their new experience next year! Shoutout to our GM Jack who was a legend and could talk shop with us until cows come home.

This room was fantastic! Immersive, fun, great use of high tech puzzles. Set design was incredible, and has a fun way of receiving clues. A lot of interaction based puzzles but some logic required. We can’t wait to come back for room two!

An awesome enough room that has warranted me to write a review in order to let people know why it’s awesome. This immersive experience is quick in letting you know that the story and the role you play in the story is important to your enjoyment. However, that does not mean that the puzzles take a back seat. What I really appreciated about this place was the careful design of very naturally making you feel that you aren’t problem/puzzle solving because you paid money to be in a room for around an hour, but because you are trying to actually figure out how to save the people you’ve been set out to save as well as yourselves. That is to say, the signposting for where you need to go is so well interwoven that you always feel like you have a place to interact with within the setting to make progress. This doesn’t mean that for people who enjoy a challenge, this is just a room that lightly guides you around a playground of interactivity with no tension or difficulty. It still has a great dose of challenge and the use of technology is used smartly. You quickly start to realise the problems of the space ship you find yourself in and from that point on, you’re always kept busy tinkering with different parts of the setting to make sure that progressing at a reasonable pace. There wasn’t a point in time where it seemed frustrating as there was always something that felt as though you were being nudged in the right direction, without handing you solutions on a silver platter. The quality of the puzzles themselves if to describe in one word would be: fun. It was just so fun to have a ‘play’ in this environment that really made you feel you were in a futuristic sci-fi spaceship with problems that felt fitting to your dilemma. Without spoiling anything, it really does feel like you have to creatively think your way out of the problems that appear before you throughout your time. Overall, this is one of the best immersive experiences in Melbourne right now. It is quite new, but they have clearly taken their experience and the growth of ‘escape rooms’ into account in their design of this room to be transformative, rather than iterative of the generic puzzle solving experience that we are so used to in Australia already. Experiences like these are how from this point on how escape rooms need to evolve into.

Thank you Jack for spending time with me and my partner to talk about your experiences in designing escape rooms. It makes sense that you’ve been apart in creating the experiences that we have enjoyed over the years and we’re now excited to see more from you and the Earthrise One team!
