The haunted tour company, Wickedly Terrifying Excursions, is excited to offer haunt enthusiasts tours to the Grove Theater, a 1920s abandoned movie theater where, Cinema 7, is the last theater standing. While the rest of the Grove Theater was set to be demolished, a group called TFC has pushed to save the theater, to which because of their efforts, tours to the Grove Theater can begin.

Cinema 7 is def a spooky room but has a ton of great puzzles. The idea of doing a room in an old school theatre was exciting, and it lived up to the hype. Luckily no jump scares or actors, had we known this we may have done the room quicker. We were very cautious entering and exiting rooms lol.

This room had a unique theme that was fully immersive and well executed. A spooky story tied everything together and puzzles were challenging but fun. If you love old movie theatres or a good spooky story this one's for you. Definitely recommend.

Gameplay

Lots of novel features that were fun and flowed well. Mostly linear gameplay but some things could be done in parallel.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere was both creepy and nostalgic. Set design was so realistic and immersive. Felt like being in a real movie theatre. Props and effects were equally impressive.

Customer service

GM and staff were welcoming and friendly.

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

First movie theatre-themed game for us so that was different.

Story

Just the right amount of spooky fun.

Difficulty

Medium

The game is rated as hard but we found it to be more medium. We only needed 2 hints.

Game tech

High tech

The game has a combination of high tech effects and some key and spinner locks.

Ideal number of players

2

There are some tight spaces and I feel like more than two would start getting cramped. The website says 2-8 players but I honestly don't know how you fit 8 people in there.

Scary

Spooky

Nothing terrifying just a spooky ambiance.

Minimum age

Not for small children.

Was anything broken?

No

We had one spinner lock that hadn't been reset but everything else worked perfectly.

Physically active

Somewhat

There are some stairs, some climbing and some crawling.

Parking

Easy

Parking is in a paid garage but if you get dinner somewhere after your game, you can get it validated.

585 escape rooms

Cinema 7 is a classic escape room elevated dramatically by smart, impactful wow moments and excellent use of space. The room is slightly small, but the way the spaces transition between each other is really ingenious and makes it feel big. There’s a lot of puzzles, each of which feel highly fluid. We weren’t stuck on one thing too long, and each had a distinct connection to the environment or props in the room. In particular, one communication puzzle with a layered series of reveals was a delightful implementation of a common puzzle type that used the room’s layout well. While not every puzzle had layers, the best ones lead to unique and high energy strings of these rapid fire solves that navigated the entire game space. Speaking of which, the set was excellent - it was a small space, but it felt like a theater, and used both detailed weathering and the aforementioned layout to underscore the function of the space. Embedded in the space are a variety of reveals that I’m sure will surprise its players - they certainly surprised me. If you’re looking for an elevated take on the classic game, with a collection of strong puzzles and a very uniquely structured set, this is absolutely worth playing.

Gameplay

Fun, logical, and tactile classic escape room gameplay.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere of the theater is appropriately eerie, and the use of space is really creative for its rather small size.

I thought that this room was really charming even though it was a "horror" themed room. The spaces were quite small but well themed and the puzzles flowed really well from one to another. This was a unique plot and I enjoyed the gameplay!

Gameplay

Most of the puzzles in this game were similar to puzzles that I've seen before in escape rooms so they weren't particularly unique but they were still fun. The flow of the puzzles was really great!

Atmosphere

The rooms were small but well themed. The set wasn't over the top but it was still super effective for the theme!

Customer service
Story

The story was unique and supported by the necessary actions within the game.

Difficulty

Medium

Our team of three got out of this room with 0 hints and 12 minutes left. I suspect that some of the puzzles would have taken us a lot longer if we hadn't seen similar puzzles before. If you are new to escape rooms, this room would have been more challenging and time consuming.

Game tech

This game was mostly comprised of physical locks but there were a couple of technical aspects.

Ideal number of players

3

Three players worked well for us! I would probably recommend 2-5.

Scary

Spooky

This game is advertised as a horror room but there aren't really any jumpscares and there are no live actors. Compared to other escape games in Orlando, this game is definitely more spooky than scary in my opinion.

Minimum age

12

The horror theme really isn't terribly intense. I've always liked "spooky" things and definitely would have enjoyed this when I was 12.

Was anything broken?

No

Live actors

No

Physically active

Somewhat

It would be ideal if all players are capable of walking up a small flight of stairs. Additionally, at least one player must be able to climb a ladder and crawl. It would be ideal if multiple players are open to crawling.

Accessibility

I would not recommend this game for people with mobility restrictions due to the stairs, climbing, and crawling. At least one puzzle utilized color but I don't remember any puzzles that utilized sound.

Easy to find location

Yes

It's within a shopping center but it was easy to find with signs and google maps.

Parking

Medium

You have to park in a parking deck to go to this location. It's not terribly inconvenient but it does mean that you will likely need to pay for parking.

Cinema 7 at Will to Escape is a room I’ve heard hyped up over and over—and somehow, it still managed to blow my expectations out of the water. While it doesn’t reinvent escape rooms entirely, it takes familiar elements and pushes them to a level that feels fresh and exciting. Just when one area starts to feel wrapped up, a new space opens and completely changes the vibe. The pacing is spot-on, and there’s never a dull moment. The set design is one of the best I’ve seen. It really sells the old, decaying movie theater atmosphere—flickering lights, gritty textures, and eerie sound design all come together to make it feel real. You can tell they weren’t working with a massive budget, but the way they used what they had was genuinely impressive. Every room felt intentional and added something to the experience. The tech was definitely a highlight. While there were still some standard mechanical locks, the moments that stood out were all tech-driven—unexpected, clever, and totally immersive. Even though there was a mix, the cool technical reveals are what I walked away remembering. It made the room feel dynamic without being overcomplicated. There’s a moment involving a crate—no spoilers, don’t worry—but it genuinely blew my mind. Not because of what was inside (it’s not some crazy twist), but because of how it played out. The timing, the build-up, the payoff… it all just hit perfectly. Easily the “wow” moments of this escape room (not counting the set design reveal itself!). The story starts strong with a spooky, self-guided tour setup, but it does fade into the background a bit as the game goes on. Personally, I didn’t mind—it still felt cohesive, and the experience didn’t rely on you following the plot beat by beat. It’s more about the mood and progression than deep narrative, and that worked just fine. One heads-up: it does involve crawling, climbing, and squeezing through some tighter spots. That adds a lot to the immersion, but it may not be ideal for every group. Having a team member unable to perform these actions would really take away from their experience in the room as there comes a point where they'd just be standing around for a while. I’d recommend it for 2–4 players max—anything more might get cramped or chaotic as two of the rooms are quite small. Overall, Cinema 7 is creepy, creative, and packed with surprises. It’s one of the most memorable rooms I’ve played in the area, and the way it keeps you on your toes from start to finish is something I won’t forget anytime soon.

Gameplay

Very novel game! Had a lot of effects and new rooms that I wasn't expecting! Every time you began to feel bored by a room, another one opened up, so it always felt fun and exciting!

Atmosphere

One of the coolest set designs I've seen! Even though it was clear they didn't have a massive corporate budget to work with, they made use of every penny they had to spend on this room! It felt like an old, dilapidated movie theater with purposeful additions to every room!

Customer service

Wonderful staff! Andy was our GM and we had so much fun we booked another room for later that night!

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

While it wasn't crazy different than other escape rooms I've played, it took elements of a basic escape room and elevated them beyond what I could imagine. I've always heard great things about this room, and it truly blew my expectations out of the water and showed me the unexpected!

Story

Honestly, I'm not too sure what the story was. It started with a great introduction, that we were going on a self-guided tour of an old cinema but it kind of lost weight soon after. I'm sure if I paid attention more it could have been clearer as I basically need the storyline to slap me in the face to understand it, but the room was enjoyable whether or not you understood it!

Difficulty

Medium

There were definitely elements of this room that were challenging, and we definitely needed a couple hints but in no way is this the hardest room you'll come across! Good difficulty to enjoy a challenge and also the room without being too overwhelmed or stressed.

Game tech

High tech

I would say it was a pretty even split but the novelty of the technical elements meant that even if there were more mechanical locks, the technology was the only thing you'd walk out of the room remembering!

Ideal number of players

4

I would not have any more than four players in this room. Some of the rooms are very small and cramped and more than four people would mean people would have to split up and risk not seeing how everything is solved!

Scary

Spooky

One jump scare that I can think of. Otherwise, sinister and creepy vibes with flickering lights, sound effects, and creepy videos.

Minimum age

8

Was anything broken?

No

Live actors

No

Physically active

Somewhat

Optimally, everyone in the group needs to be able to crawl and climb stairs. The room can be done if only one person can do that, but it definitely takes away about half of the room from the person who was not able to do it!

Accessibility

Mobility issues as there were crawling and stairs for about half of the space, although everyone is not required to do it! At least one-color puzzle that I can think of!

Easy to find location

No

In Pointe Orlando in the middle of the shopping center.

Parking

Limited

You must pay to park in the garage. Sometimes they validate tickets, but it is rare they have the power to.
