The haunted tour company, Wickedly Terrifying Excursions, is excited to offer haunt enthusiasts tours to the Grove Theater, a 1920s abandoned movie theater where, Cinema 7, is the last theater standing. While the rest of the Grove Theater was set to be demolished, a group called TFC has pushed to save the theater, to which because of their efforts, tours to the Grove Theater can begin.

A very solid, atmospheric, beautifully designed, and mostly enjoyable room that is only brought down from total greatness by how unintuitive a few too many puzzles are later in the game. On the surface this is one of the best looking and most uniquely designed layouts we’ve EVER seen for a room, and it’s full of neat surprises. Without spoiling anything, there are many awesome moments of awe and “wow” factors that you and your team will enjoy once things really get rolling. It’s absolutely the high point of the room. As far as puzzles and flow go, it has a pretty strong start, and as you progress, it keeps that momentum pretty consistent and the pacing also stays pretty uniform for the first half or so. The puzzles start out challenging without being frustrating, and they’re all really nicely in theme and build a sense of ominous dread. Great visuals, great sound design, all delightfully spooky and very creative. Unfortunately, it feels like somewhere along the way while designing the room, it got kind of messy and a bit disjointed. About halfway through, the pacing starts to hit what feels like a screeching halt, with puzzles going from inspired and intuitive, to a sudden difficulty ramp that is out of left field. Puzzles suddenly begin to have many details that are easily missed because they require items and progression lost in literal, total darkness (where there shouldn’t be any otherwise). We started needing one too many hints to keep the flow going. We’ve played a lot of rooms at this point and we were honestly surprised at just how many parts toward the end began to resemble a Gen 1 escape room’s logic. It felt like it became weirdly disjointed. We weren’t having an off day either as we had just played another room beforehand. And it didn’t help that this is a VERY physically active room, and the day we played, their air conditioning wasn’t working. This room got HOT. We were drenched in sweat by the end. I really wish I could give this a heart, but it’s still a very solid room that’s extremely unique and enjoyable, with much to appreciate and gawk at the sheer awesomeness of its design. Just make sure you absolutely bring your A game and are ready for a pretty physically active experience if you’re not prepared for it. With a few fine tweaks this would be an all time great. It’s instead just really good.

Of all the games I’ve played at will (Almost all except for some of the older games like the artifact), this was by far my favorite. Mind you, every single game at will to escape will be better than most escape rooms out there, however this game was exceptional. The size of this room, to start, blew me away. They didn’t spare a dime with the set, space, and decor of this game. From the second I entered it felt like I was actually at an old school cinema. Puzzles, so fun. The puzzles at will are always written so well, always flow well, and always feel satisfying to solve. There’s no “oh how did I get that” or “how was I supposed to know that” moments that some escape rooms tend to have. Also, it’s really impressive how they made this room feel ultra modern. The game itself isn’t necessarily filled with tech, there’s a nice blend of mechanical and technical gameplay, however even the “old school” puzzles felt fresh and new. Not enough good to say about will to escape, both locations!!! Orlando Rec: Cinema 7 Jupiter Rec: Mystical Manor

Gameplay

Puzzles were some of my favorite I’ve seen, specifically (without spoiling) a certain film reel puzzle.

Atmosphere

Of all of wills games, this one blew me away the most in terms of set and ambience. They are all amazing, but the size and attention to detail of this room was superior.

Customer service

They are always amazing and you can tell they really care about the rooms and the experience

Scary

Spooky

Not too scary, I’d consider it more spooky pg-13 esque. I’d say creepy is the better word.

This room delivers an enjoyable theme filled with older-looking props that establish a nicely immersive, spooky atmosphere without relying on any live actors. The tactile nature of these vintage props perfectly satisfies a preference for deeply immersive themes and solid mechanical designs over flashy high-tech screens. When it comes to gameplay, the puzzle flow is incredibly logical. In fact, our group found it to be exceptionally straightforward and we finished without any trouble, earning it an "Easy" rating. Having played a significant number of escape rooms across Orlando, many of the puzzle mechanics here felt quite familiar; we generally had a clear idea of what we were looking for right from the start. On a highly positive note, the room's maintenance is excellent, nothing was broken or malfunctioning to stall our momentum. Unfortunately, the ending felt a bit anti-climactic. Given the spooky build-up throughout the game, we were hoping the final sequence of puzzles would lead to a genuinely scary or intense conclusion. The finale could be significantly improved with a faster pace, intense sound effect audios, or spooky colored lighting to elevate the tension and deliver a more thrilling, satisfying payoff.

Fun game! Had some elements of scary themes but definitely scary or even really that spooky.

Gameplay

Novel no, but fun yes. This was mostly a series of locks. Made sense for a 1920s story.

Atmosphere

Fun theater set that looked like a real micro theater. Some out of decade touches (candy from the 90s)

This is immediately one of my favorite games. Great design; great story; unique; lots of surprises in store for you. Very physical game - lots of up and down stairs and some crawling. GM Bee was great, as well - also immediately one of my favorites! A must do room for enthusiasts!

LET'S ALL GO TO THE LOBBY Well put together room. On par with captivating worlds back in Columbus Ohio. Chris our game master was great as well. We ended up needing a hint, and he gave us the exact right amount of help. Only negative I have is when explaining how the realtor box works during the intro, the description of how to use that box gave one of the clues away

Gameplay

The puzzles were so much fun. Combining items from multiple rooms was great. I also liked that some of the puzzles were direct answers and others were indirect. When the answers were indirect, they didn't feel like randomly cobbling some things together.
