I really don’t enjoy leaving negative feedback, especially when it comes to escape rooms, but unfortunately, this particular experience fell short in several areas. One of the most noticeable issues was the lack of atmosphere—there was no background music or ambient sound at all, which made the room feel flat and lifeless. This absence created some awkward silences, especially during moments when our team was deep in concentration, which took away from the immersive experience that escape rooms usually strive to provide. Additionally, the puzzles themselves didn’t seem to flow in a logical or cohesive way. Rather than feeling like part of a well-thought-out narrative or sequence, they came across as disconnected and somewhat random. It made it hard to get into a rhythm, and at times, it felt like we were just solving isolated tasks rather than progressing through a unified storyline or challenge. its also worth noting that it was very obvious when the game master bypassed some puzzles for us.

Gameplay

definitely didn't feel novel or flow well at all.

Atmosphere

this is by far the biggest downfall of the room as it lacked majorly in immersion due to the lack of background sound.

Customer service

they where really nice as always in fox in a box. However, it was so obvious when our GM bypassed puzzles.

As a massive Indiana Jones fan, I was excited at the prospect of Fox in a Box directing their stunning environment designers towards crumbling temples, ancient artefacts and wondrous myths. It wasn’t quite what I expected, but I wasn’t disappointed by any means. In place of Aztec ruins and buildings of yesteryear, a sci-fi crossover builds within ‘The Chamber of Lost Legends’. While the title itself didn’t seem to be explained — or at least, not from my time within the experience — there were archaeological elements injected into the game that shone best as props. The story spoke of exciting Spielberg-esque grand stakes and a riveting rising action-into-climax, but felt smaller in actuality. The puzzles flowed relatively well, with some unclear signposting as to where some answers are inputted, or how specific props interact together. Others didn’t reflect the stakes and narrative of the game and seemed to be inserted into the sequence as thematic puzzles but fell short of diegesis. With all that being said, many were very enjoyable and employed technology very intuitively without behooving the experience. Fox in a Box stand as one of the most impressive franchises I have had the pleasure to experience so far. I look forward to their next games — I just hope they aren’t too far away!

Gameplay

Flow was quite good! Some puzzles were slightly unclear as to how to approach them, or how they connected to other props, but mostly worked.

Atmosphere

Fox in a Box always delivers great aesthetics. This isn’t their most impressive set, but it was still a good set of rooms.

Customer service

GMs were fine, our main GM was attentive and responsive when props malfunctioned.

Story

Plot was interesting, but the puzzles didn’t logically make sense within the flow and scope/stakes of the narrative.

Some dials were worn and unclear as to where they were positioned, another prop triggered early. The GM was responsive almost immediately both times and we felt very supported.

Solid concept but a few kinks need to be worked out with a few flaws along the way. Excellent variation of puzzles not just a bunch of locks to find the keys for. If the kinks are fixed then it will be quite a good room (not sure if this is an ongoing thing or just during our experience). Fox in a box definitely has better rooms

Gameplay

A bit disjointed at times.

Atmosphere

Nice props and environment

This room was cool, definitely a different kind of theme than what we’ve encountered previously. Room had good flow and was easy to complete with two people. Lots of different kinds of puzzles, mainly high tech but a few mechanical
