Clown Town

If things had been reset correctly, I'd give this a "like" because I had fun... But this is a better haunted house than an escape room - and if you think of it that way, you might love it! Sadly, there were 3 full puzzles of the game not reset correctly and one item actually broken. These included an unlocked door which opened into another one of their escape rooms (can I now add that one on Morty too?! 😉) and a lock which just wasn't anywhere to be found: we spent 10 minutes struggling with a 5-letter code because the puzzle was broken, but then when we needed the GM to give us the missing information, we discovered the lock wasn't anywhere to be found - we didn't even need the code in the end! (The broken puzzle required us to read stickers on a grid, but some stickers had fallen off - the GM told us after they will fix this). While I hate to leave a bad review for a game, the overall experience definitely detracted from the fun. This was much scarier and, despite the issues, more fun (definitely more puzzle-y) than Basement, which had no good puzzles. The puzzles in Clown Town were fine, nothing special, but no effort was expended on creating a plotline (who are we and why are we there... doing THAT? Why don't we just leave out of the door we came in?), and the "meta-rules" ("do this and the clown won't hurt you") is goofy fun but nonsensical. This is fine for a laugh but this does make it seem more like a 4th grade birthday party and less like an escape room. Intense Escape is best in DIE-ner where it's a good escape first with a goofy nonsensical add-on. For horror-clown puzzley fun, Horror Circus up the street at Game Over is a much better escape room... But also a lot less scary and a lot less "haunted house". I just may not be the audience...

They're low budget rooms with below average puzzles, this one included. Sorry guys, but not impressed. Cheap thrown together feel. The only real thing going for them is the fear factor which is cool and all, but that alone does not make them good rooms. They also have a very snobby stuck up 4 person minimum they maintain for most of their rooms. We've played at some of the biggest budget rooms across the country with live actors and over the top theming, etc and they're mostly always happy to accommodate 2 and 3 person groups unless the room physically requires additional players. Mostly all of the low budget games, mom & pop, private outfits etc usually always are willing especially if you've patronized them and played all of their available games over the years. This is strictly about money and there is no kind of exceptions made even for enthusiasts and... even though it literally says on their website to call and they will make an exception to accommodate smaller groups during the week. Totally false. We called and attempted to book some of their rooms off and on for a couple of years and each time were met with a hard no. Finally banded together a larger group and as much as I hate to say it and hate giving negative feedback, there was nothing remotely special about it. Rooms are small and hard to imagine fitting a larger group in the first place.

This room was perfect in every way! Set design! Creativity! Anxiety levels! Interactive! Puzzles! Awesome staff (family)! Just so much FUN!

I’ve done right around 50 escape rooms and this is my favorite one. If you get scared easily don’t do this one. Very good puzzles with a very easy flow to it. I highly suggest playing this game if you want to get scared and don’t have a problem with running!

I love all the time and effort and detail put into this room. I would recommend trying this one. A little bit of scares in this one topped it off, deff an A+ for me!

This was a huge room - lots going on and had a great carnival feel. Also scary. We enjoyed it!

Clown Town was an incredible room. It was my first experience and I cannot wait to go back and play their other rooms!
