Our first Scarborough Fair experience was a solid room with decent potential. Before the game, we went into a mini cinema for a briefing, which I found very cool despite the technology being a little faulty at first. With 20 puzzles of varying types to solve in 60 minutes, Davy Jones is quite a challenging room, filled with multiple mechanical and technological elements. I think the puzzles are definitely its biggest strength, though not all of them made sense in the space. The theming and production value, however, could be stronger, as each section of the room felt more like they were decorated with props as opposed to being truly immersive and atmospheric. The story is also not particularly engaging or coherent. Worst of all, the tech unfortunately failed in one particular section and the GM had to come in to manually bypass it. Nevertheless, we still had a good time and appreciate the owner/GM for chatting with us before and after to give us some insights into the room. With some tweaks and enhancements, Davy Jones has the chance to be a great room.
