Houdini

This game was one of my favorites on our Athens trip. I thought it was "magical" from start to finish and a refreshing break from horror rooms. It still was a bit on the spooky side, but was centered around a very cool story that included fantastic acting and a bit of magic. The puzzles all made sense and were very satisfying and the set was fun. I highly recommend checking out this game.

Like many games in Athens, this was a cold start - from the moment you walk in the door, you're in game. And like many games in Athens, the creators love their fog machine. The puzzle interactions and set were very satisfying. There was one puzzle towards the end that we had a bit of trouble with (we were fixated on a different extraction than what the designers intended), but other than that puzzles were pretty smooth. We played in English and had no problems. I'd recommend this game to anyone visiting Athens - it's much lighter than the more common horror themes (though still slightly spooky), but what really made the game outstanding was the actors. There was some sleight of hand magic (appropriate for a game about Houdini) and a memorable, climactic final battle scene. After the game, the Houdini actor dropped character and we spent a while chatting about the room and Athens.
