What a fun experience! We’ve never encountered anything like this and it certainly was an enjoyable experience! This room kept us on our toes, knowing a hungry monster was on the look out for us, and forced us to communicate and work together in unique ways. Great concept with a great execution!

Unfortunately, this escape room didn’t meet expectations. The puzzles lacked quality and creativity, and it felt cheap. I usually enjoy rooms by Lost Locks, but this one just didn’t deliver. Given that it’s priced at the higher end compared to other escape rooms in the Surfers area, I expected a certain standard as a baseline. Instead, I walked away feeling underwhelmed and that the experience wasn’t worth the cost. I would recommend another room.

Issues with mechanical components of the puzzle left us disappointed. Seemed simple but the puzzles were not clear and quite obtuse with their clarity, was no debrief with our game master compared to the other rooms which also disappointed myself.

Short and unexciting

Customer service

Staff at the venue are amazing, our gamemaster for this room was nice enough but no where near the same quality as the other two. He seemed more interested in getting us in and out asap, maybe it was just busier.

Lost Locks is absolutely Incredible, Fun and Immersive, The Game Masters explain the room to you in detail. Give you the back story of the adventure you’re about to embark on and they do it in such a manor that you feel welcomed (like you don’t want to escape! lol). We had the pleasure of meeting Morgan our Game Master. She made our experience even better when giving us clues and hints saying that we had to tug on certain things a little harder to unlock certain clues, as we didn’t want to break anything. We have also had the pleasure of meeting other Game Masters, Such as Fluer, Nick and Miles and each time we attend Lost Locks we are always welcomed back with a warm greeting and smile by Brett and the team. Lost Locks offers Puzzles for all ages and takes you out of the world of reality and into a world where you must escape. We have Done Mad Monster, R18+, Dark Dungeon, Cottage Capers, Twisted Trials and Buccaneers Bounty. We Would highly recommend this attraction to first time escape room adventures, professional escape room adventures and those who like a challenge. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Gameplay

Game play was great. Good flow.

Atmosphere

Atmosphere was interesting you actually felt like you were in the back of a truck heading to a Slaughter house. Set up of the room really put you in the zone.

Customer service

We were greeted with a smile. It was my first time ever doing an Escape Room, Morgan made us feel welcomed and made our night.

It walks the line between a "Tourist game with a gimmick" and "having something cool for experienced players" really, really well. I would recommend this for players of all tastes and experience levels.

Mad Monster exhibits expert use of a small space with a strong concept and great theming execution. It has great theatrics, a lovely finale and a good variety of intuitive puzzles with natural flow. Maybe best suited for a smaller group. When we arrived at Lost Locks we were greeted very warmly by Ryan who was lovely to chat to. We felt very generously taken care of by our game master Sam, her intros really drew you in and set the scene and her enthusiastic debriefs were much appreciated. This business has really wonderful top tier games and we can't wait to come back and try some more. The atmosphere is fun, the vibes are excellent and we're very excited to see what games they release in the future.

Staff were good. Shame a few things didn’t work (ending wasn’t as good as it could have been) and unfortunately the handcuffs got stuck so I couldn’t stay on the ground to play

Lost Locks’s latest offering centres on a wonderfully unique mechanic — you are chained across the room from one another, and you must communicate to escape the experience. ‘Mad Monster’ features a spooky aesthetic without leaning heavily into horror, making it accessible to most audiences. The puzzles are clearly clued, and their spacing around the room is equitable so that all players can be involved. ‘Mad Monster’s aesthetics make for a very immersive experience, and the way the room changes throughout the game is a delight to witness. It all builds to a stunning final puzzle that I can say is my favourite puzzle to date. ‘Mad Monster’ is a great addition to Lost Locks’s collection of rooms. They did a wonderful job designing this game. It’s a standout for the Gold Coast and not to be missed.

Gameplay

The game centres on the mechanic of being chained on opposing sides of the room to one another through the floor and having to communicate what you see with the other half of the team. It’s well balanced in terms of puzzle placement and equity for player engagement. The puzzle flow is essentially linear, and the room changes throughout the experience to maximise the diversity of puzzles offered. It’s an impressive design with a great puzzle at its climax, scaffolded by players learning the rules and mechanics of the game as they move through the experience. It’s my favourite escape room puzzle so far.

Atmosphere

The room’s aesthetics and puzzle design was wonderful. The spacing out of puzzle props and design flourishes are carefully placed. The lighting was a delight as well!

Customer service

Lost Locks’s team are wonderful. They are so inclusive and welcoming.
