Tomb

It’s unfair to judge this experience as an escape room experience because escape room this is not. And they make it clear it’s not. It is an immersive action adventure with manual physical puzzles unlocking progressive rooms. I tried this after reading some positive reviews, and for me I left feeling disappointed. Add to that, some of the puzzles were malfunctioning during our play through of this particular game. If you enjoy immersive entertainment in general, this is worth a shot. However if you’re looking for something that will deliver the fulfillment of a good escape room, avoid.

this was my least favorite of the rooms HOWEVER, it is only because the one puzzle was where you had to push on "sensors" to create a pattern in a certain amount of time. The sensors were just wacky and not sensing that we were pushing so we had to redo it like 5 times. but the set design the puzzles its all super fun!

I don’t know that I would necessarily call this an escape room. To me it seems more like one of those virtual game rooms with escape room theming. Overall, we had fun, but it was definitely different than we anticipated.

Great set design and atmosphere, but I feel like it was a little under utilised for how much space there is. Definitely more task oriented than puzzle oriented, but it was still a pretty enjoyable experience. The second room was tense which I appreciated a lot.

5 Wits Nyack in General: this company makes a big deal out of making sure you know this is “not” an escape room. But I actually think they do themselves a disservice that way! I’m a very avid escape room escaper, and I was VERY taken by 5 Wits! The immersive nature of each themed adventure here is extremely high quality and well done. This approaches Disney theme park quality, and that of my favorite escape room company: The Escape Game. The staff is great and I appreciate the reveals in each adventure as well as their cute intros, and that you get a score at the end (which for me helps keep it competitive even though you always technically “escape”) This room: I’ve been to the Valley of the Kings and I was extremely impressed with the final room’s walls. This is the most immersive “Egyptian tomb” themed adventure I’ve ever done. I always loved how the puzzles here incorporated teamwork. This was a very smart room and the “best” ending involves a very gorgeous reveal. I can’t recommend this enough

I would recommend going to 5 Wits and doing all three escape rooms to anyone who is in the area and able to - you will not find rooms with as amazing of set design as this company. Their puzzles are very family friendly so they aren’t super challenging, but the immersion factor really makes up for it.

Final challenge didn’t register as success despite us being successful. “It’s a bit finicky”, they said. Still enjoyed most of it.

Current versions of Tomb don’t have the same magic of the original from the 2000s, but are fun nonetheless. More of an immersive experience with puzzles/challenges than an escape room. Good atmosphere.

5 Wits is not like a normal escape room. It maximizes put-through which can feel a little like you’re being railroaded through. It feels a little like a Disney park walk-through experience that way. So if you’re looking for a challenge this isn’t the right room for you. But if you want to just be entertained, they’re great.
