Amazong escaperoom for a very long time felt like the introductory room system. I reccomended it to new players as the themes and puzzles were rather simple. We were talking three relatively new people with us, so we wanted a simpler room. To my surprise, the Asylum was a lot more than expected. While the puzzled were linear, and the pink dots are still around, the room was excellently themed and had more than a few interesting twists and turns. I would highly reccomend it, but even with a rating for 1 to 6 people I would limit it to 4, just for easy of mobility.... Oh and take at least 1 small person.

The GM was nice, but when we finished the room we had to go back into the building and it was like pulling teeth to get someone to take our picture. Not the worse experience I've had their though. They need better managment for sure.

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

The escaperoom is on a bus outside the building. That was interesting.

The bus aspect was really cool, it definitely added to the immersion on that front. It’s pretty narrow and cramped so less people would probably work better. The puzzles themselves were pretty standard, nothing that was very difficult but nothing I haven’t seen similar before. One of their hardest was right at the end and it was a physical puzzle which almost cost us the win. The game master was nice, but one downside to the room is they cannot see you very well (because it’s a bus and many locks are floor level) so one of our clues we received answers for several things we already solved before getting to the puzzle we actually needed which are up time. Another downside to being in the bus was there were many things that couldn’t open and those that did, we had to close immediately so we could actually walk through the area so we had to keep double checking what we actually opened. The room also required outside knowledge which is always a little disappointing, even when you have that knowledge. A couple of fun effects, although not as scary as I would have hoped and it seemed when the game master mentioned jump scares. Really a unique aspect to be on an actual bus for the room.

You are on a bus so it really feels like a bus, otherwise nothing super crazy.

Being on a bus was pretty cool, but pretty standard otherwise.

Mostly mechanical with a few tech touches.

The room holds six but it’s on a bus so the 6 person is pretty cramped at times and means moving single file to get around.

Scary

Spooky

A little disappointing because we were hoping for something sort of scary and they mentioned jump scares, but it was pretty tame. Anything “scary” was pretty cartoonish, which means if you scare easily you won’t have to be too worried about the room.

Minimum age

There are some things more on the mature side, but nothing a teenager couldn’t handle.

Was anything broken?

Things were really worn, not intentionally, but locks were hard to read and things were a little broken so we were unsure whether it was meant to be open or not.

Accessibility

The room is on a thin bus, so everyone needs to be able to get up and move along the narrow aisle. Many locks are low to the ground so you need to bend over and there is a physical puzzle that requires good eyesight and a good amount of dexterity.

Immersive and lots of fun. Only downside was one puzzle was ridiculously hard. Gamemaster told us it usually takes people 15 minutes to do the one puzzle which seems to me like it’s time to change that. Besides that great room
