After being kidnapped and taken to another country, your group was rescued and put on a plane to return home. The weather seemed perfect—until a sudden blizzard sent the plane crashing into the icy Norwegian Sea. Injured and freezing, you paddled to the nearby Faroe Islands, only to be caught in a worsening storm. Many of you are suffering from severe wounds—without treatment, some players may not make it to the end. With hypothermia setting in and time running out, survival is now a race against the clock. The Medic must heal everyone’s injuries to buy the group more time, while each of you uses your unique skills—from the Witch’s alchemy to the Thief’s cunning—to navigate the challenges of an ancient cave, where the restless spirit of a failed explorer offers both aid and trials. Your decisions will either seal your fate or save all of your lives.

We did the Fridged Flight room and it was delight. The set up is unique and the role playing was integrated well into the game. Pir game master was super helpful (I wish I remembered her name, but it was 12:50 on 7/26) and really helped make it more fun. We will be back to get on another leaderboard!

This new(?)** game is an ambitious take on an escape room (it's an RPG), with a lot of potential. Sadly, it's badly in need of a storyboard rework and lots more beta testing to pull off what was intended. Our game devolved into a chaotic mess of confusion due to unclear "rules" of the game, but the surprise twist ending almost made up for it. I think the problem here is the game is fundamentally an RPG straddling two incompatible storylines and two genres which don't mix well (at least in this execution, not at all): a survival/disaster plot...and a ghostly fantasy. Don't put this on your shortlist unless you want to see an attempt at an RPG in an escape room. Sometimes unsuccessful attempts are still worth trying, and you can always make snow angels if things just break down. MINOR SPOILERS This is a survival thriller RPG with a supernatural theme. The twist/ending depends on which roles you select in the beginning (the "Medium" is the only required role), which gives it a potential replayability factor. But it's really two games in one, and they don't match well. You're trying to call for help... but also to release a spirit you just happen to come across (why?)... who wants you to do things for him before you set him free (so... do you want to be freed or not?) It really sounds like I should dislike this (and the supernatural piece of the storyline is...not good), but the ending and set were enough for a few laughs, and the potential here has me not hating it ... and really wanting that rework. **The GM told us that the owners opened this room earlier in 2025 and were still trying to work out the kinks in July... but now I see that people have left reviews for the room as early as November 2024. Suspicious? Seems a bit like their 2025 excuse for not having an actor in Toxicity being... "Covid".

A bit of a chaos...

The first part (snow!) was fun. Overall, A Harrowing Escape should put some effort into improving their execution. Even the painting on the wall (of a partially sunk plane) seemed quite amateur, and I would've rather not seen the plane portrayed at all - especially frozen in time, mid-sinking

As an experienced escape room team (we play frequently), we recently completed all three rooms here. Overall, we had a mixed experience and see areas for potential improvement. The first room started with a really cool effect we hadn't seen before, which was a great hook! However, the puzzles felt quite repetitive throughout the room. Specifically, many puzzles involved finding items and simply placing them on different sensors around the room, a pattern that occurred multiple times. More variety in puzzle types would definitely enhance this room.A significant point of frustration was the sock requirement for the first room. While we had appropriate shoes, one team member didn't have socks and had to purchase them. Crucially, we made our booking over the phone and were never advised of this requirement during that call. We also reviewed the several emails received beforehand, none of which mentioned socks were mandatory, only recommending comfortable shoes. This lack of clear communication upfront was disappointing. The second room had some good elements, but we felt the moments where the "killer" interacts with the group were less impactful without a live actor physically entering the room. We noticed reviews on platforms like Morty from as recently as last year (2024) where other teams mentioned having a live actor take on the killer's persona during these checks. When we asked our game master about this after our game, we were told it had been discontinued since COVID. This felt a bit misleading given the recent reviews suggesting the live actor was still part of the experience for others, and we believe reinstating this element would significantly enhance the immersion and excitement of this room.In the third room, the puzzles were just average; there wasn't anything that particularly stood out as a great or memorable puzzle. We also felt the ending was a bit anticlimactic, wishing the final puzzle or the escape moment itself had a more impactful reveal or conclusion.Regarding the staff, we interacted with two hosts during our visit. One host was very helpful and seemed genuinely enthusiastic about us being there, which was appreciated. However, our interaction with the second host was less positive. Our entire team felt they seemed uninterested and somewhat dismissive of our questions. In a customer service-focused business like this, the staff interaction significantly impacts the overall experience, and this particular interaction was a bit off-putting.Overall, there's potential here, but clearer communication on requirements (especially for phone bookings), some adjustments to puzzle design and interactive elements (particularly bringing back the live actor in the second room and enhancing the third room's puzzles and finale), and consistent, positive staff engagement could really improve the player experience.

We enjoyed this room. The build was more on the amateur side but it had a fun story and some fun puzzles. Some of the puzzles didn’t work smoothly or were confusing in their mechanics, but overall still a good room.

Was anything broken?

Yes

There was a key drop that they had to come in the room and hand it to us because it was so far away it couldn’t be reached and it sort of interrupted game play because it was also so far away we didn’t see it and kept trying to repeat that clue.

I don’t leave many reviews on games unless they were really good or really bad. Unfortunately, this room was atrocious. The theme was all over the place. The puzzles were not good at all and most of the room left us scratching our head. The set was very amateur and this room was not up to par for Orlando. Love the staff and the venue for what they do, but this game needs to changed out. Also, the cat is awesome

This room had a lot of pros and cons for us. Overall it wasn’t a bad room but wasn’t an amazing room either. The concept and the storyline of the room is actually really cool but the set designs lacked a bit, especially in the 2nd room. There were definitely unique puzzles that we had never done before. This room was definitely a NON LINEAR game.
