Can you uncover the clues before time - and oxygen - runs out? The year is 1944; the height of World War II. The US Navy is fighting to establish a position of dominance over the enemy. Tensions are high and the crew is on maximum alert. You are onboard the Steel Shark - the US Navy’s prized submarine, deep in the North Atlantic Ocean on a vitally important mission to spy on the German Battle Cruiser, Scheer. The mission is going smoothly until, without warning, the submarine plunges into the sea—now the engines have died, the hull is cracking and there’s only 60 minutes of reserve oxygen remaining! Looking around you begin to discover clues proving sabotage by German secret agents. You and the crew must act quickly so you can continue your mission. If you succeed, you’ll not only survive but will surely become national heroes. Can you reinstate the power and help the Steel Shark back to the surface before the entire crew perishes?

We liked Murder on the Orient Express at Escapology so much that we immediately booked Under Pressure, and weren't disappointed. This game was a little less techy but still had some really fun puzzles. The underwater theme prevailed throughout play. We had a lot of fun in this room.

Gameplay

Good flow from start to finish. All of the puzzles supported the overall mission, and each was true to the storyline.

Atmosphere

The set was definitely immersive. The props all had a submarine-y feel to them, supporting a nautical, naval theme. This definitely made the game enjoyable. Escapology doesn't seem to skimp on their games.

Customer service

The front desk helped us get signed up immediately after finishing our previous game and let us go into the room early (in support of further vacation plans). The game master let us play the game without interference.

No

But still fun.

Story

The plot was clear and every puzzle/prop supported the game.

Difficulty

Medium

There were a couple of puzzles that made us think a little extra. Overall, game play was relatively straightforward.

We played with 3 but could have used an extra brain and an extra set of eyes.

Scary

Not scary

Minimum age

8

The clues were a little challenging for 8 but the underwater nautical theme would engage a younger kid.

Was anything broken?

Yes

We were warned not to open a specific panel because it was acting up, but were told we'd be able to see what we needed to see when we needed to see it. Unfortunately, nothing happened when we activated a prop at the appropriate time. However, we went back to the clue that the item that activated the see-through panel was finicky so we put 2 and 2 together and played with the system for a while until we got the information we needed from it. They really just need to fix the panel. We wasted a little bit of time doing what we were supposed to with no results until we played with it enough to figure out how to get it to work. Not a show-stopper but frustrating and seemingly easily fixed.

Very fun and cool room. It was rated 9/10 difficulty like the Mansion Murder, but it felt much easier considering we didn’t escape the other one.
