Special Ops: Mysterious Market

This one is now in our top ten! Immersive and excellent game flow.

This game was part of a weekend of Escape the Game, we rocked every room in the place and this one was the sleeper. You basically get the most amazing storyline I've ever had in an escaperoom and halfway through you almost need to completely switch gears. Basically you start in 1 room, and by the time you enter the second you are all primed for more puzzles like the first, when BOOM you are in a completely different style room.. It's jarring, but the story behind isn't makes all the difference. Are you a fan of James Bond? Do this room! You know what, do it first!

Rating: 3.5/5 Another enjoyable room from The Escape Game, I did the room with one other person but a couple more would've been helpful as we struggled a bit with some of the puzzles (though I liked the variety). I really enjoyed the overall vibe and decoration/immersion of the set and there was some fun tech. The ending was fairly exciting too. I've updated this review in 2024 after playing almost all of TEG's rooms at several locations, here is my personal ranking from best to least favorite: 1. Cosmic Crisis 2. Ruins: Forbidden Treasure 3. Playground 4. Timeliner: Train Through Time 5. Prison Break 6. The Depths 7. Special Ops: Mysterious Market 8. Gold Rush 9. The Heist 10. Mission Mars

Very good room with just enough puzzles to keep players engaged. The puzzles made sense with the theme of the room. We ended up doing this room with a random couple, and I felt like that it would have been more enjoyable if we were able to do this room as a duo. Definitely give this room a try!

The room has huge shifts in tone and the dramatic scenery makes for a highly enjoyable experience.
