First, the story premise is that you were about to take your life since it was so miserable, but got an invite to this mystery shop. It says do on website. BUT I was not ready for just how much it referenced suicide in the room. It was like every 10 minutes audio clues or prop text reminding of this. Not cool to be honest The room was clearly designed in Chinese at first, so there are a lot of sloppy translation mistakes on written and audio clues A lot of props were broken, and the GM told us after that the room is not frequently booked, so they don’t teat it often. It really shows. Since a lot of clues is you finding a set of objects and then placing them on right spots to trigger next set of clues, tech issues were especially noticeable. Any time we placed anything correctly, it took 10-15 seconds to trigger the lock ls, so multiple times we did the right thing, but since nothing happened, we moved to a different strategy, just to get stuck, ask for a clue, and find out first thing we did was right, but we just needed to wait longer… A few electric / digital props were broken & just didn’t trigger, so we spent like 15-20 minutes trying everything until GM just had to manually trigger next clue. All in all, a very lackluster experience, and made me very unlikely to come back for any inblack rooms, especially considering it’s like $50-60 per person

Gameplay

It was a lot of placing objects in right spots, to open a drawer with new sets of objects to place in right spots. so felt pretty repetitive

Atmosphere

The room has a lot of ambition that it struggles to pull off. The set was very worn out with a few big props that felt cheap and some of them were broken

Customer service

Staff was lovely & very apologetic about tech issues

Mystery Store was such a fun and unique escape room experience! From the moment we stepped inside, it felt like we had entered an old shop filled with secrets waiting to be uncovered. The attention to detail in the set design created a nostalgic atmosphere that really pulled our team into the story. The puzzles were creative and well-integrated into the theme, offering a great mix of logic and hands-on challenges. We especially enjoyed how each discovery revealed more about the mystery behind the store, keeping us engaged and curious throughout the entire game. Everything flowed smoothly, and the progression felt very satisfying. This room is best suited for experienced players or teams looking for a more challenging, story-driven adventure. The complexity of the puzzles makes it incredibly rewarding to solve, especially for those who enjoy a deeper level of problem-solving. The staff were friendly and helped make the overall experience even more enjoyable.

Came back to INBLACK after a great first visit, and this game completely exceeded our expectations! Feo’s story was emotional and engaging, and the puzzles fit perfectly with the narrative. It’s a refreshing experience that really stays with you. Can’t wait to try the rest of their rooms!

The good: More elaborate and story driven than Loo Battle, and I liked that it was (at times) more difficult. There are some good puzzles in this space. If you like Inblack rooms I think you’ll like this room. The not great: - For me, the props/tech don’t end up really pulling off the ambition of the room’s story (which is a good chunk of this narrative focused room). - I’d really like Inblack to make clues that are more than just laminated paper sheets, free of spelling mistakes, and/or not cut-off. It feels incredibly sloppy for something you’re paying 40-50 bucks for and every time something like that happens it really takes you out of it. - There were some broken props and I also got a small electric shock when touching a prop. - All in all it feels like the first draft of a room that needs a lot of polish. Also, the story starts with mentions of self-harm, so keep that in mind going in.
