Welcome to the Pacific International Oceanographic Laboratory, under the sea, here in the Mariana Islands. We look forward to learning from your team’s expertise and knowledge of submarine volcanoes and how they affect the marine life around them. You are joining an elite group of oceanographers and volcanologists from around the world with many years of observation and research experience. Please, get settled in, check for any messages left by your colleagues, and review the research they have left for you. Be aware though, the Irish and Australian scientists were here last, and you know what pranksters they are; they love to hide things! Oh, a reminder that our facility is located near a few of the submarine volcanoes and we have been experiencing some tremors – but don’t be alarmed, the lab is perfectly safe from any water breach. By the odd chance an emergency does occur, you will have 60 minutes to secure your research and ready yourselves for the automated ascent pod to take you to the surface. We’re glad you’re here and if you need help, just give us a shout!

9 escape rooms

The employees were blunt and not very friendly, and we got the feeling that they felt the need to act that way because previous customers had been rowdy and destructive in their rooms. The room felt disorganized, it wasn’t obvious which puzzles gave the answers to which locks so we just had to keep trying them all. You can hear the players in the other escape rooms, and the GM talking to them over their speaker, and we were told to play quieter when trying to figure out our puzzles… so better soundproofing would be nice. The speaker in the first room was broken so we had to strain to hear the opening video and our GM from the speaker in the second room we hadn’t even unlocked yet! Overall it felt a bit rundown. I don’t mind a low-tech escape room at all, but I do expect things to be functional enough that we can do the puzzle without needing to ask the GM why something isn’t working.

Gameplay

The puzzles were confusing and it was difficult for our group to work on two different puzzles at the same time.

Atmosphere

Unfortunately it seems that some previous players have damaged many aspects of the room that haven’t been repaired well.

Customer service

Our GM was a little harsh and blunt, but I don’t blame her since it seems like they’ve had difficult customers in the past.

Not terrible. But not good. I had fun, but would skip this place. This is one of their newer rooms, yet one puzzle's sound cue was broken (the GM chided me "it's not broken" - um, yeah it was...), and I got injured on a metal peg which broke the skin. One search puzzle requires you to find small laminated pieces of paper which have coordinates for a map puzzle. This place feels like it could've been made in 2012. The GM was very rude, and she made me place my backpack in the car rather than leave it in the room or behind the counter (it was too big for the lockers). Very bad training.

Gameplay

Just OK. Not great, but not as good as their prior game in this space.
