Ah, Appleseed Avenue. That beautiful place where humans and puppets coexist. You’ve always wanted to visit, but never quite had the time. And then you see the job posting: Appleseed Avenue detectives and medical examiners wanted, humans or puppets apply. Are you a detective? No. Do you have medical experience? Well, it doesn’t really matter because these are puppets and not humans. You apply, and to your surprise, you get the job. It turns out that the day you are scheduled to work is Election Day. You don’t really follow puppet politics, but you know this one’s a biggie. Five candidates are still in the running for the mayor of Puppet Town in an increasingly tense race. Either way, it probably won’t affect your time on Appleseed Avenue. Right?

What an incredible room. The story was a mix of humor and drama with some very unique gameplay. The one interactive character you had in the room was absolutely hilarious and fun to shoot the shit with if you wanted to entertain yourself or make the experience even more immersive. It’s a more modern room so there’s no classic lock combos or anything like that. I think for what the room is, the way you do the puzzles fit well with the theme and doesn’t take away from it being an escape room experience. It’s definitely more unique than what I’ve seen and the depth of the tech I think is pretty neat and can be messed around with if you’re on the curious playful side. I’ve heard some reviews about the groups being split and not being able to experience both parts and we honestly didn’t find that to be too much of a problem. You can walk in between rooms and communicate with the other group and even switch roles if you’d like. So if you want the full experience, you still can to a point. Overall, one of the best rooms in the area. Honestly wish it were longer, it was that much fun, especially if you have a fun group to go with.

I had deeply mixed feelings about this game, and have found myself more divided on it than almost any other room I can think of. On the one hand, the concept, the world-building, the use of multimedia and tactile puppets to create a narrative, the humor, the production quality—all amazing. But the experience as an escape room? Far less successful. First, as you’ve no doubt heard, your group is split—and it just so happens that one of the routes is almost undeniably more fun than the other. So that’s a letdown for the other half of your group. But second, and more importantly, there’s a weird irony in Election Day at its core: despite the immense tactile joy of the space, almost all of the puzzles are screen-based. Just endless point and click. Screen screen screen. The physical involvement in the room is so much more fun—things, objects, etc—but there’s so comparatively little of it. Why am I in this wonderful world just sitting on a damn computer? Why aren’t there puzzles in this world that take advantage of the space itself? A screen can be in ANY space, it’s not unique to that space. I’ve done the other rooms here (upstairs), and they have wonderful puzzles (def less flashy though). Why not build more bodily interaction and less digital interaction into the space? I hope they do this for the next installment in the room, because it will make for a much stronger experience and fulfill the potential this space really has.

Appleseed Avenue’s Election Day is of the most inventive and immersive escape rooms I’ve ever done. As humans in the puppet world solving puppet on puppet crime, the puzzles make you feel like a true detective and the inclusion of actual puppets push the gameplay to 10. Adam and Badam are some of the best gamemasters to do it and I hope they see the same success when Chapter 2 is completed.

Super unique and cool from start to finish! Very immersive. Not your typical escape room. Part escape room, part murder mystery, part puppets!

Appleseed Ave lived up to the hype and more. There is some replay value as there are two different roles you can play. Less an escape room and more of a murder mystery game, with some of the best production value you'll see. Can't wait for their next game, Shadow Puppet!

This room is so unique and a ton of fun. I don’t think I stopped smiling the entire game. I would definitely recommend a minimum of four players as you will be split into two groups and work separately a lot if the time.

I had an incredible time at this room. The concept of the room is quite unique, featuring puppets and puzzles that are refreshingly different. At times, it may feel like there’s nothing to do on your assigned job, but instead if twiddling your thumbs I highly recommend helping out with the other group, as it will help you experience the whole experience.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS ROOM! I was sooooo sad when it was finished. This room blows me away from the amount of detail, to the tech, to the story line, to the set design, and to the hilarious live actor. We had so much fun and would have definitely had more cases. I’m so glad we made the trip specifically for this room. This is a new must play in LA and can’t wait for their other new room to come out.
