Can you hack the heist and dismantle this cyber criminal network for good? Inspired by former hacker, Nitr0, who attempted to orchestrate a multimillion dollar cyber heist years back, criminal network ‘Cipher’ has emerged with an online message boasting plans to execute what could be the most catastrophic cyber takedown in American history. Their target is a digital vault safeguarding a cryptocurrency fortune valued at over 100 billion US dollars, and with a recently developed AI-based program capable of breaching the vault's firewall, Cipher now has access to the fortune for 60 minutes. As elite members of a specialized FBI Task Force extensively trained in cyber security, you have traced a lead to the hackers' hideout, but you quickly realize that you’ve walked right into their trap and are now locked in their domain with damning evidence pointing at you and no obvious way out. Taking full advantage of your remote location, you move fast and recover valuable time to devise a plan and find an escape route. But the question remains: do you have what it takes to uncover the kill code once adopted by Nitr0 and regain control of the fortune inside the digital vault? Can you navigate Cipher's intricate security systems, execute the shutdown, and dismantle the entire cyber criminal network before it's too late?

How does a “new” game feel more outdated and questionable than the original I played 5 years ago? Multiple tech issues, multiple questionable puzzles, multiple times when the staff disrespected us. I hope they can improve everything here - because otherwise I can only see a heist of your time, money, and patience by booking this room.

Gameplay

All physical puzzles worked, but the tech puzzles had CONSISTENT issues. Reset errors and tech issues consistently broke the game flow - we spent maybe 20+ minutes of our 52 minute time with the right answer but something wasn’t working or something wasn’t being explained right. Game had at least 2 ghost puzzles / components in it. It’s been in operation for a month. End sequence was really only possible by one person, extremely repetitive, and extra information is given that feels useful but simply isn’t.

Atmosphere

It was honestly the expected. Just a shelf, a couple pics on the wall, and a couple computers and monitors. Nothing impressive, but nothing obviously broken.

Customer service

The staff was dismissive of us from when we entered the building, asked for them to lock a door they failed to reset properly, asked for hints on things that either didn’t open on correct answers or deactivated mid game, and left us after simply opening the door and not even entering the room to debrief. We had to take the endgame photos ourselves. They ignored us. We didn’t know our GM’s name until we realized it was on the back of the 15% discount code for “next time”.

Particularly interesting or different

No

Story

Stop a hacker plot by… uh, I have no idea. The story doesn’t make sense. It just has “hacker” energy like you asked ChatGPT to spit out tech words.

Difficulty

Hard

Hard - puzzles are ambiguous, didn’t work, or got right answers but didn’t accept them. 20 of 52 minutes in the room were spent going “idk what’s wrong” and realizing the game is the issue, not us.

Game tech

Mechanical

Felt Gen 1 with barrenness and the only tech being locked doors and a safe that locked after 2 failed attempts for the rest of the game - every tech thing besides the endgame and needed the GM to override it.

Ideal number of players

3

There’s not enough to do for 6+ people and is a tight space… with not much to actually do.

Was anything broken?

Yes

What wasn’t broken was some basic 5-dial combo locks and props given to them via corporate. Everything else had a tech issue, including the door to the second room, the door to the third room, the safe in the second room, the keyboard in the second room.

Live actors

No

Physically active

Not at all

Basic walking.

Accessibility

Very tight spaces in the second and third room, to where idk if you could pass someone in a wheelchair. Color is important at various points. Close reading needed. Small text and dyspraxia issues.

Easy to find location

Yes

Strip mall.

Parking

Easy

Strip mall.
