Bustin’ Out of the Eighties

1st gen escape room. Good flow for 3+ players. challenging standalone puzzles and overall simple design.

I really enjoyed this room. I’ve done a number of 80s themed rooms, but this may have been one of my favorites. First off, the game designer really went above and beyond with 80s props as compared to most other 80s rooms. (Magic Snake anyone?). There were a lot more puzzles and little things like answers to clues had some nice obscure 80s references. In addition, they were kind enough to explain the reference after you solved the puzzle. Like their other games, it's older, so expect a lot of locks. Also, the set is just a large room with LOTS of 80's references and puzzles. That said, it still works. there’s a nice flow, the puzzles keep you engaged and you the background music soundtrack was bitchin'! It's not an easy room so I'd advise at least 3 unless you have a lot of experience. If you are ever in the Raleigh area, come for this game and Curse of the Crimson Dragon, and time permitting, throw in the other two. Heads up though. According to the owner, this game will likely be retired later on this year.

This was a well-implemented Gen-1 escape room and an enjoyable experience! I personally preferred the Crimson Dragon escape room at this location more, although I can't quite put into words why. It could have been that me and my friend were slightly off our game that day or that our lack of understanding of 80s references led us to be more confused or the puzzles were slightly more challenging or some blend of the above - that led to the puzzle-to-puzzle flow feeling less intuitive generally. That said, this was still an engaging room and I plan to do the rest at this location because the room design and quality is consistent 💪🏻.

Quintessential great escape room. Not overly flashy but everything worked and was a great room

Loved this one! As a child of the 80’s, some great memories. My kids didn’t get many of the references, so it’s going to be time to pop in some movies soon… Well laid out, great for a party of 3+. Not too challenging. Owner/game master was super friendly and helpful. Would recommend!

I liked that when you figured out a clue you could find where to use it. There were pictures beside the locks. Had a great time!

This was a first gen room with clear and fun puzzles. The puzzles are clearly connected so you never are wondering which lock your answer goes in. It's a lot of fun recommend if you don't mind playing a first gen room.
