Rest Easy Motel

This had a fun theme. You could say that the room felt dated, but it is set in a roadside motel so things felt appropriate. The experience is very lock-and-key based so if you get a key you might have to try it on a few different locks that are available. I would definitely try some of the others available at Escape Artists.

Rating: 3/5 - Decent but feels dated in 2025, very mechanical Pros: ➕ Set looked good enough and was nicely weathered/grungy ➕ Multiple rooms to discover ➕ Decent variety of puzzles like physical, visual, and basic arithmetic ➕ Appropriately creepy vibe but no jump scares (except for a couple sudden noises) ➕ Interesting use of some items/props ➕ GM was friendly and helpful Could be better: ➖Too heavily padlock and key based for my tastes, with only a bit of tech mixed in ➖Puzzle style felt dated, like the room was designed in 2015. ➖Puzzles felt a bit too random and not particularly thematic, some I didn't like. ➖Weak narrative They say this is their most difficult room and it felt that way. I'd recommend a team of 3, maybe 4 enthusiasts since there are a lot of puzzles but more than that will feel crowded. Still very playable with 2 though. I played solo and needed more than a few hints/nudges and finished with only 20 sec left, they allow single bookings. I preferred Cat Burglar over this room since that had more fun puzzles and tech and wasn't as difficult.

Really enjoyed this room. Good design and quality build.

Very immersive room. Lots of detail and puzzles. I did need some hints to try to figure out how the puzzles were supposed to be solved. Once I got an idea on it, it was very easy to manuver through.

This is a fairly simple room though the theme makes it a little scary. No live actors or anything like that, but just the theme and lighting makes it feel pretty creepy. The puzzles themselves are fairly doable and easy to breeze through so I think smaller groups would be able to do this and still have a lot of fun. Our GM was a little proactive in giving us clues, which wasn't the worst, but definitely kept us moving quickly which may not have been super necessary since we had over 20 minutes left at the end anyways.

It’s never good when the game master has to come into your room. A door opened that should t have during our gameplay and then our game master suddenly appeared without warning. Because that door opened, it threw the rest of the experience off due to confusion on order and flow of the puzzles. The puzzles themselves required a bit of a leap in logic but it’s hard to trust a room once it breaks. Our game master also didn’t let us “solve” puzzles as much as nudged is along the whole time. Not a fun experience.

My husband and I went here on a lark, but we were really glad that we did! The theming was really fun and immersive. A couple puzzles had me feeling very surprised and pumped up to see what was going to happen next! Check this one out!
