Permanently Closed - You’ve started classes at UCXX and while you have a couple of cool classes, your favorite class so far has been psychology. The professor is a bit eccentric but insanely smart and you’re definitely his favorite student. He recently won an award for some of his experiments and invited you to a blow-out party at his apartment! You spent the night going crazy-probably? You aren’t so sure, it’s all a little hazy. You wake up in a cold sweat in some very unfortunate circumstances, groggy and still under the effects of whatever you were dosed with. The Professor is missing, and you’re pretty sure one of his test subjects must have done this! Can you figure out what happened last night, save yourselves and save the Professor before time runs out and the patient finds you?

I’ve done all the Quest Room experiences now and have to say this is one of my favorites. It’s certainly my favorite at this location. The story was very novel, the atmosphere was immersive, and the live actor added so much. (Huge shout out to our GM, Jason, who was phenomenal and absolutely made this experience better!) As with many of the Quest Rooms, this wasn’t as puzzle heavy, but instead balanced puzzles with roleplaying with the live actor. He was very entertaining and made this a really memorable experience. Would highly recommend!

Gameplay

Definitely novel, and involving a lot of interaction with a live actor.

Atmosphere

Quest Room always excels in this department. Top notch, as always!

Customer service

Loved our GM, Jason. We felt very lucky that we got him!

2 - 4 would be good. We played as 2 and had a great experience, but since this is more experience-based, having a couple more players wouldn’t detract from your experience.

Very sad to see this go. This is more of an experience than a classic escape room. The riddles are fun. The atmosphere is very well done. The horror comedy is very well executed. The entire thing feels like a movie with a very fun ending. Hope it comes back somehow. Very much liked the little joke with the professors name... Dr. Streichholzschächtelchen. Thank you for that.

6 escape rooms

Aesthetically, immersive right from the start. We were all hollering at the launch. The first ten minutes and last ten minutes were my favorite in any escape room, and the rest was satisfying and different than a general key hunt. DEFINITELY got the blood pumping, and left us tons to talk (and excitedly yell) about at lunch after. Yes, there’s fewer puzzles than some other rooms, but if you want a break from copy-pasting 4-digit codes for an hour, it’s definitely a blast. Re. some of the other reviews, yes, some of the props are worn/might need a bit of extra elbow grease, but nothing that brought down the experience by any means. We all came out of the rooms shouting and laughing. Our GM Allie was wonderful and we had a great time talking with her afterwards about various rooms in LA!

I absolutely loved the storyline of Amnesia as it’s one of the most unique and engaging narratives I’ve encountered in an escape room. While the puzzles themselves might not have been groundbreaking, the experience really excels in immersion. There are clever twists and surprises that kept us engaged, and very creepy moments that added to the thrill. I feel that this escape room is a bit underrated compared to others in this location, but in my opinion, it was my favorite room in this location! It was just two of us, and we found it quite doable with two people as we escaped with plenty of time left on the clock.

This room was so good I must have amnesia trying to write a review. It was a spooky room that involves role playing and a little theatrics so just keep in mind. Our group had six members and it was an ideal number for us but the puzzles were not the main focus on this room. The story is rather muddled but I personally did not have high expectations that I would understand the flow. After all, the premise is that we were all dosed with “something” and woke up on a strange place. The group I went with had a great time because of the twist at the end! This is why I am giving this room a “heart”. If you are looking for more puzzle heavy rooms, I would opt in for other Quest Rooms like Perfumer or Greedy.

Good atmosphere, unique opening, but this experience is not for everyone. Takes "escape" room literally, but may be a detrimental to the flow of gameplay. Typical of Quest rooms, there are some social/verbal and/or physical role playing elements, which again may not be for everyone.

Gameplay

Opening was novel, but difficult. Felt like more time was budgeted for that, making the rest of it feel a bit rushed and lacking in content. Some of it felt like timesinks.

Atmosphere

Set design was appropriately spooky, some props and elements definitely fit the theme.

Customer service

AJ was great and was our GM for Warlocked months ago as well.

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

Have not seen this kind of (very) immersive opening before.

Story

Plot was definitely not what was expected, but in a good way.

Difficulty

Hard

The puzzles themselves were not as hard as the way certain obstacles were supposed to be solved, which are atypical compared to most escape rooms from other companies.

Game tech

Ideal number of players

4

Being a typical Quest room, there isn't an abundance of various puzzles to be solved separately. There may be points where someone doesn't really have much to do.
