When a powerful relic is stolen from a church in Eastern Europe, the trail leads you to an abandoned religious complex in Belfast, recently taken over by a dealer of rare antiquities known only as The Collector. Your team’s mission is to infiltrate his compound and retrieve the relic before it’s lost forever — but beware, local disappearances in the area suggest danger lurks inside.

644 escape rooms

The Collector felt like a synthesis of so many distinctive styles - menace driven horror, adventure, immersive theater, and classic puzzle driven escape room gameplay. What it resulted in was one of the best games I’ve ever played. Like many of the best horror games, The Collector is genuinely scary to navigate - the actors excelled at going from in your face to next to invisible. If that wasn’t enough, they also performed their scenes just as well - making it really feel like you were not alone in the room. This strikes a good balance between telling a story and actively scaring you - although thankfully the scares never conflict with the actual puzzle solving. Speaking of which, unlike most horror games, these were extremely well crafted, thoughtful challenges. The rooms built mastery and relied heavily on, well, collection - this structure furthered the live action video game feeling of many escape rooms into a genuinely fascinating game structure. You’ll solve a lot over the course of the room, but it never became overwhelming, in part because the set was so excellently organized. If you are an enthusiast anywhere near Belfast, you have to play this game - it is the epitome of how to do an escape rooms in 2026!

510 escape rooms

Think this will come out as my favourite game in the UK. Scale is impressive, multi layered puzzles (as all their games have), great story and cut scenes. Having recently visited Athens it's of a similar nature to the "horror" rooms over there. And compares very favourably. Well worth the trip from Scotland.

210 escape rooms

Easily the most cinematic horror escape room we’ve experienced in the UK. Huge scale on par with Spain and Athens games with some very nice transitions. Dark story with some crazy and fun cut scenes. Would describe as a psychological thriller rather than out and out horror and there are a lot of puzzles to complete, with good variety and layering.

  • We were very grateful that The Collector had plenty of puzzles to keep us occupied.
