As a disclaimer, I'm not a huge horror fan. That said, Horror Asylum had fantastic set and atmosphere, several surprising and remarkable moments of "whoa", and a very high level of energy. This is more active than psychological - expect lots of moving around. Puzzles were decent for a horror game, and lighting quality was above average - I don't ever recall thinking "I wish there was more light so I could read this", which I can't always take for granted.

Having said that, there are also some aspects of the game that bothered me. The story felt disjointed - some elements made no sense, one late game expository sequence missed for us because we couldn't get over a very uncanny valley AI video that didn't fit the rest of the vibe, and what was apparently supposed to be a big reveal didn't surprise us at all.

The game was on the wrong side of extreme haunt for me - I don't mind (and actually expect) some physical contact in horror games, but I don't like being firmly grabbed by the throat. One teammate said the monsters put their thumbs on her eyes (while she was blindfolded) and pushed a bit. Two of us left the game with scratches from the monsters that drew blood and left minor scars (I'm pretty sure mine was from an actor while I was helpless). I wasn't expecting any of this going in, so be warned.

I'm on the fence whether to give this a like or a love - it's a great set and has memorable moments. If the gameplay style is what you're looking for, or even if you just like horror themes, Horror Asylum will be great. Ultimately, though, it's not the style I personally am drawn to.

Horror Asylum did a special English booking for us, which was very nice of them. Hopefully it will become easier over time.

Edit: The owners proactively contacted us to apologize for the unintended level of contact, which was kind of them. Hopefully it's a one off mistake and you'll have a better experience.

Horror Asylum swept up numerous Spanish Escape Game awards and it is really clear why. 

Highly recommend the room, especially for any horror fans! The set is large with many "wow" factors with unique elements we hadn't seen before, and the narrative takes some great twists and turns. 

There are plenty of solid puzzles, perfectly mixed into the tension of the environment. We played as a duo and had an incredible time. We think it would also be a blast with a group of friends. We were just the second group to play in English, and although we are not huge fans of horror, we still thought the execution was fantastic.
