Another location in the books for me, as Cabin in the Woods completed all the rooms at Tampa Bay Escape Room. I played this with my pal, Chris who had completed the room before- put two tall people in a room and you will get some comedy out of dancing around each other to solve all the puzzles. Our gamemasters were great and the room was good fun, they did tease that this location is getting ready for a big overhaul of a lot of their rooms, so be on the lookout for that!
Gameplay
The gameplay was good, but has us stuck at times. It’s also very hard when you put two very tall people into an extremely small room and then give them multiple tasks to do at a time. When we spoke to our game master, he did say one of their older rooms was closing in favor of an expansion for this room.
Atmosphere
The atmosphere was good, the small size lended to the claustrophobia of being locked inside a small cabin by a cannibal. My only gripe- the room was unnecessarily cold. I don’t know whether that was an atmospheric choice or whether their A/C just does it’s job really well.

The ‘haunted cabin in the woods’ genre is so beaten to death.
Story
The ‘haunted cabin in the woods where a cannibal lures his victims’ is also beaten to death.

Game tech
Their rooms at this location always have a healthy balance of mechanics and high-tech features.

Any more and you’ll be climbing ontop of each other.

Spooky
The room had spooky moments, but overall was not that scary.

Was anything broken?
Yes
For a room that has been a staple at their location, there were a lot of props in the room that had damage to them from previous players trying to hulk them out of their positions. We had an entire 5 minute speech before we even started playing about- don’t touch unless it moves.

Parking is easy but it’s downtown Clearwater, which means anywhere you park you’re going to have to pay.

I absolutely loved this game, it was one of the first rooms I’ve ever played and it was just lots of fun. Scenic was very on point and the puzzles were just the right amount of difficulty. Would absolutely recommend if you’re in the area.

Always love a moody, cozy, spooky escape room. The game itself is fun, the puzzles “just” challenging enough, but not too difficult, and the overall design engaging, but very focused and limited to just one space. It’s an especially great room for beginners to get their bearings of how escape rooms function, while throwing some fun, unique challenges and a variety of puzzles their way. Great for a small group, as it’s a very small space. Anymore than three and it would feel very cramped, which might hamper enjoyment and make it more of burden to play. The use of tech is inspired, albeit some may think it’s a bit hokey and dated. Overall, they struck the right tone by mixing the “darkness” of the story with a bit of levity and humor. Always appreciate that kind of awareness, leaving you with a “fun” feeling by the end and not a relief it’s over. This one’s a safe bet for a good time!

Somewhere between easy and medium, leaning a little closer to medium because some things and puzzles in the room were not too obvious

Good moody room. Very minor depictions of gore, but they’re more silly and humorous than scary.

Room is very small and puzzles fairly easy (but fun). We had 4 but 3 might have been better. It would be a good 2 person room for sure
