So much fun! We loved every minute of our Twist of Oz experience. The room was unique and colorful. We alo loved the soundtrack and the scenery so much that we found ourselves slowing down a little, just to enjoy it longer and even sing along. It is clear the owners put a lot of love and labor into the room and we enjoyed chatting with Roger before and after our game also! Can't wait to see what they come up with next!

I marked like based on game master, owner and building itself. The game and puzzles were a little easy. The props were worn and room needed a little updating. You can tell the owner loves the theme. Best part was little red shoe we got when we left.

Twist of Oz is Key to Escape’s newest room and it really shows with their integration of high tech puzzles- I don’t believe there was a single “regular” lock - a lot of keypads, but also some original tech. I will caveat this review with the statement that I genuinely love the people at Key to Escape and think they are so passionate about what they do, but my husband and I both agreed that their style of game just isn’t for us. That being said, this was a step up from Under Pressure, but implemented many of the same strategies/faults. They definitely pride themselves on being a hard escape game, which I actually don’t believe is because of the puzzles, but because of the lack of flow and jumps in logic. I also think a huge thing in both their rooms has been SEARCHING. I know some people love combing over a room from top to bottom searching, but I prefer my time to be spent working on a guided puzzling experience, not a free for all. It feels like a time suck and takes away from my experience. While we did escape the room with 12 minutes to spare, I think it was solely because we knew what to expect from Under Pressure. When we solved puzzles, neither of us felt satisfaction with them, it was more of that “oh, that worked?” kind of feeling. There were definitely fun moments in this room and the set is adorable- we loved the apples feature and the wiggling feet. And we loved the beginning sequence/story/ room in black and white. Overall, we had a good time but will not be returning to play top shelf elf, which appears to be the “hardest” of the three. I wish I loved these games more, especially since it’s the closest location to our home, but they aren’t for us. I feel like they need a fresh set of eyes to come in and refresh these rooms. But don’t let that stop you from experiencing Oz yourself, see if it suits your style of play!

We had so much fun at Key to Escape that they had to drag us away. This room involves a good amount of searching (which I love). We had a group of 4 and there was plenty for everyone to do. The soundtrack was fantastic and made customer by Toddrick Hall! There’s excellent immersion in the world of Oz. Everything feels clean and well maintained. Lots of fun puzzles. Go play! This room is one of the least physically demanding rooms I have played which is great for accessibility. There’s one tight corner but this seems like the most wheelchair accessible game I have played in a while. I can’t recall if there is a ramp or any stairs to get into the building.

Absolutely phenomenal. Great production value, immersive, and wonderfully creative puzzles and tech. The staff are top notch. We will be returning to do their other rooms. This is clearly a passion project for the owners, and they put a lot of work into it.

This room was like a childhood fantasy come to life. I was afraid it would lean more into Wicked since the movie is still pretty fresh but was pleasantly surprised to find it was pretty traditionally Wizard of Oz themed. I have wanted to travel over the rainbow to Oz since I was a small child and I was finally able to do it. On my birthday too! You begin in the Gale farmhouse which gets sucked up into a twister and deposited in Oz (and on the Wicked Witch of the East). The room was fully immersive with some fantastic special effects and fun puzzles that true movie fans will enjoy solving. Family friendly and perfect for all ages. We escaped (Toto too) and had so much fun.

Gameplay

Gameplay was not entirely linear and followed the Wizard of Oz story so it flowed well. So much fun!

Atmosphere

Set design, special effects and props were all so well designed and fully immersive. I felt like we were really in Oz. Special shout out to the twister traveling farmhouse which feels so real.

Customer service

I cannot say enough about how great the people are. After playing Under Pressure on the weekend, our GM Addison agreed to come in on Wednesday when they are normally closed to run two rooms for us because it was my birthday and we were visiting from Florida. The owner Roger Siegrist then came in to show us some insider secrets and BTS.

We have done many escape rooms across the country and this one is definitely at the top of my list! It was a blast, from the time we walked up to the front door, to the time we walked out. Solving a puzzle just to get in the front door was very clever. The owner was very friendly and made the experience even better. We will definitely return to do their other rooms. Well done Roger, thank you for your hard work. We appreciate it!

Gameplay

Very fluent. The puzzles and codes were with purpose and made sense.

Atmosphere

The props and design was very especially pleasing. The special effects made the room feel magical. Well done!

Customer service

Roger was very welcoming and friendly from the time we walked in. He took time to actually talk with us before and after the room. I enjoyed hearing how the room was constructed and about the historical building itself.

A wonderful company that has outdone itself with their newest room. This is a true testament to how escape rooms should go. There's something special here & this is going to be an award winning room! I've done Wizard of Oz rooms before, but nothing like this. The set, the puzzles, the flow, the hilarious music moments. What a labor of love: for example, (non-spoiler), you start out in a house in Kansas. The house is in black & white (like the start of the movie), but the owner added lights which "wash you out" so you too appear de-colorized until you get to Oz. Just amazing. Also, I'll add with my review of the company overall, location and owners. The location is a historic first Catholic site, the first Catholic church in North Carolina, now renovated with maximal use of every available space for three escape rooms. In addition, the owner clearly has a love and passion for history, escape rooms, and the themes behind each room. From even the way you enter the building, it’s an escape room delight!
