This multi million dollar mansion is making headlines, and not in a good way. One of the family members of this mansion has committed a string of murders and you’ve been tasked to figure out which family member is the culprit. You better hurry, though, because once the clock strikes midnight you might become the next victim. Set inside a fancy mansion, this game is full of tricks and turns you won’t see coming!

Probably in our top 5 all-time games. Definitely the best we played here. We detoured a couple hours out of our way on a cross-country trip and are very glad we did!

Gameplay

Flow was great! Was very linear, which we usually don’t like as much, but in this case it was tied to the story so well and there was such a nice variety of puzzle types (including some quite unique ones) that we didn’t notice. Also, most really were better with 3-4 people working on them so of was perfect for our group of 4. The ending was a touch anti-climactic, but it’s a minor quibble in the context of so many strengths.

The host at the reception desk (didn’t catch his name) was delightful!

Yes - many fun elements not seen elsewhere. Game flow was excellent.

Most puzzles were not especially difficult, but were innovative in their presentation. The difficulty arises more from the novelty of the challenges and from the need for effective teamwork to solve things efficiently.

Murder Mansion was a great room - if you’re in the Lexington area, I would recommend this room and Ghost Town as must-dos. I rank this as a low love / high like, rounded up due to the great experience and lovely staff. The concept is that you’re a detective re-visiting a cold case in a mansion to figure out who the murderer was. The puzzles were all fairly fun and interesting (I think my favorite was the room with the twist and getting to listen to the stories, really well done and fun). One of the puzzles was a bottleneck (maze). I assume this is a bit of a timewaster for most groups, as they label where you need to start/go through/end to get where you need to go. We overthought the hints a bit. I didn’t dislike this puzzle, but did think that it could be shorter. We had one person doing it by themselves and the other four of us were just waiting for it to finish. The door puzzle was really unique, I’ve never seen a puzzle like that before. I thought it was fairly fun too and the reveal to the final room was really awesome! The final puzzle does require some math skills. My partner and I are apparently math beasts and got it fairly quickly. I would recommend a good number of people for this room. Besides the bottleneck, the first puzzle in the last room really needs someone reading, someone completing the puzzle, and ideally one person in two other rooms figuring out what the clues represent. We did with 5 enthusiasts and I thought this number was appropriate and we finished with about 6 minutes left.

One step of stairs (that several people need to step on / having one person step on in sequence) and a crawling portion that at least one person needs to go through.

Stairs and a crawling portion. Think both could be completed by one person if needed.

Rating 4/5 - Beautiful, high tech room Pros: -One particular room looked fantastic, I've yet to see someone do something like that before in an escape room, and they did it very well -Some cool reveals -Set looked great and well decorated from floor to ceiling -Great use of tech and lighting with minimal use of locks -Multiple rooms to explore -Fun puzzles and props -Interesting narrative and that's more than just escaping -Friendly and helpful GM Mixed feelings: -The maze puzzle was too long and since it can be completed by only 1-2 people, most of us were just standing around watching -There is a math puzzle that I’m not a fan of -Ending felt a bit anti-climactic after the prior cool reveals Cons: -No writing pad provided and many of the puzzles are easier if you take notes. The owners says they don't provide markers due to vandalism, but many other escape rooms provide inexpensive electronic Boogie Boards to solve that problem. Taking notes on your phone is not a good substitute for something to write with. I'd recommend 4-5 players. There are stairs and a crawling portion but not everyone will need to do them. My ranking of the rooms here I've played starting with my favorite: 1. Ghost Town - Rating: 4.5/5 2. Murder Mansion - Rating: 4/5 3. The Pirate Ship - Rating: 4/5 4. Prison Break - Rating: 3.5/5 5. Time Machine - Rating: 3.5/5 6. The Scary One - Rating: 3.5/5 7. Abduction - Rating: 3.5/5 8. Shock & Awe - Rating: 3/5

The room had really amazing tech and some challenging puzzles that required some big brains. There was a challenge in the middle that was just very time consuming. The finale was also anti-climactic relative to the rest of the room.

The wonderful staff let the two of us play the room that is slated for 4-10. We needed at least one extra set of hands. If we had that extra bit of help, I think we could have escaped in time. This room was epic!!! The setting was gorgeous and really immersed you into the world of a murder mystery. The puzzles were challenging and have you wonderful moments upon solving them. I loved the technology employed and set this room as my gold standard. This is a must do room in my opinion. My only complaint would be that after everything we encountered the final puzzle had the feeling that they just ran out of steam. It wasn't anything that ruined the room but it was a moment of "Really?" I want and need to come back and do the rest of the rooms.

One of the best rooms ever! Lots of cool puzzles! So many puzzles and so many rooms. Many were high tech. This is a must do room with a lot of unique aspects. Loved it! Warning: There are stairs (not everybody has to walk them) and one person has to crawl to open a door.

Very impressive room with neat technology and innovative puzzles that I had never seen before! The set, especially the 1st part and a certain room, were amazing and wowed us! Unfortunately, there are a few puzzles that really slow the pace and wasted our much needed precious time (as we were a group of 2). But still recommend booking a stay at this murder mansion.

This one truly lived up to the hype! Right when you step in, you are immersed in the story. There was a good variation of puzzles, some physical, some scavenger hunt, and some more cerebral. The logic ones were a lot of fun, and this room definitely had a wow factor in terms of setting and scenery! This was more linear than many other rooms we've tried, but the flow worked so well that it didn't cause any complaints. A couple puzzles would have been a lot easier with more than 2 people, but we still made it out. Countdown is such an impressive location--- we did two rooms during this stay and definitely plan to be back!
