The Heist

Woah Nelly. I’ll start by saying this room is a little different from your standard experience with a series of puzzles related to your escape and others to test how much gold you can accumulate. However. Because of this, the sheer amount of things you have access to at one time is almost baffling. I somehow became increasingly more confused as the game went on despite opening more things, make it make sense. An average storyline, we’ve tripped a bomb in a bank while trying to rob it somehow? Idk it was a bit lost on me if I’m honest. I have a bit of exposure weariness to bank/heist themed rooms and the blank walls and office style of this one did not help with that. Puzzle city if that’s your thing, I like a bit more balance with the story though.

Oh my goodness gracious there were so many keys and locks and codes in The Heist, and you’re probably thinking “well yeah, it’s an escape room” and if you are thinking that, you haven’t seen the things I’ve seen (keys and locks and codes in The Heist). The room itself was actually pretty cool with an overwhelming sense of multi linearity, I’m talking 7-8 puzzle boxes (any order), 12 safe deposit boxes (any order) and enough individual gold pieces to make Ballarat weep. I think the more puzzle-orientated players will get a kick of this one whereas the story driven, experience-based players will suffer. The story was pretty generic with a bank and a heist and a bank heist. There was also a bomb? I don’t know. Solid room.

There were a lot of bonus puzzles you can complete just for extra fun but you didn't know which puzzles were the bonus extras and which ones were required to escape the room. This made it difficult to prioritise your efforts. The props and materials were quite worn down and some obvious damage to the rooms. Some quick and some time consuming puzzles. Laborious at times.

This room is mostly a classic mechanical non-linear arrangement with lots of puzzles. Some puzzles are very well hidden and require careful exploration. The game master was friendly and energetic.
