You are a group of operatives working for a super secret organisation. Extremely high levels of Valerium have been detected inside Genesis Laboratories and you have been sent to investigate. You can’t be sure of the exact cause, but whatever it is, it can’t be anything good. Can you make the right choice before the time runs out?

This was the last room I played in both Missing Klues and in Canberra and I have to admit at the time of gameplay, my brain was reduced to a lukewarm pot of goo so take all of this with a grain of salt. Doomsday was a perfectly fine room that I feel would be better suited for beginners due to its straightforward nature and linear puzzle flow. The content itself didn’t exactly wow nor did the physical space as we’d already explored it earlier inside of the Toxic room but it’s users choice as to what order you play them in. I was intrigued by the concept of playing 2 rooms in the same space in reverse order but was admittedly underwhelmed by the overall execution. While I thought the narrative of both rooms were cleverly intertwined, the content itself felt much the same with very little changes applied between the two and not a whole lot more for us to uncover. The puzzles in Doomsday were noticeably less engaging than Toxic with a couple that could definitely use a rework but nothing nonsensical. By today’s standards I think people have come to expect more from escape rooms and Doomsday unfortunately didn’t really deliver comparative to other rooms in ACT. Perhaps if I came back on another day with a fully formed frontal lobe, my opinion would be different but until then, I found it to be just okay. Alex was our Gamemaster for the entire day across all 5 rooms and was an absolute superstar running around and doing his best to accomodate us and other players. Legend.

This might be a bit controversial but I just could not find enough that I enjoyed about this room to warrant a thumbs up. Granted this was our tenth room of the day and we'd slowed down a bit I still think I would've found the experience pretty underwhelming even if this was not the case. It shares the same space utilised in Toxic which, as I stated in that review, is not something I love. You do, however, complete this room in reverse order to Toxic meaning you start in the office space and move into the lab, probably a more interesting flowthrough. Unfortunately, the lab is where the wheels come off a bit with some confusingly ambiguous puzzles that I just flat out didn't enjoy. While I understand the dual-experience one room idea from a business standpoint, I did not find the execution to hit the mark and given my aversion to this practice generally, it does kind of solidify my feelings towards it.

Cool way to use one room for two concepts. Really fun puzzles, great team, smooth flow.

To reminisce about completing Toxic and now opening/finding puzzles we didn’t even see when playing it made this experience so unique. GM was absolutely amazing and we had a fantastic laugh at us during this room.
