One of the original tabletop escape games. The Mattel edition is more mass-produced and somewhat less charming than the original printing, but it’s perfectly fine. There are far better tabletop puzzle games out there, but there’s nothing wrong with this one 3/5

As compared to other table top games, The Werewolf Experiment was pretty impressive. This one is more paper-pencil based with some mini lock-and-key puzzles, riddles, mathematical elements, and trick props. A lot of the answers to some of the puzzles were Right-in-Front of us, so be extra careful with all of your items or you might miss something! Lol. My team and I got stuck on a few puzzles and didn’t fully agree with some elements to get the answers, but we were still able to escape and finish the game. We had a team of 6 with different skill levels, so that helped a lot. This is a type of tabletop game where you can sit down at a coffee shop somewhere and complete it in less than an hour (which is exactly what we did). It was interactive and engaging, and we had a fun time with it!

The Werewolf Experiment is a solid tabletop escape room game. There are a few lock boxes, which I wasn’t expecting from a tabletop game, as well as a few other props. The majority of the puzzles are paper-and-pencil based, which was a little disappointing albeit expected. There are a few surprises, but nothing super grand. It’s somewhat replayable because you can reprint the materials online, but I probably wouldn’t replay it. We got it on a big discount, so it was certainly worth our money and time. Awooooo!

➖ Lackluster Story: The game's narrative failed to capture our interest, feeling forgettable and unrealistic. ➖ Varied Puzzle Quality: While some puzzles were engaging, others, like crossword puzzles and spot-the-difference challenges, didn't feel like typical escape room fare. ✖️ Inferior Components: The quality of the locked boxes and the locks was subpar. An issue with the locks allowing incorrect combinations to open them was particularly concerning. Considering its price point, it faces tough competition from other escape room game series like Unlock! and Exit. While it offers an okay escape room experience, it lacks the elements that would make it stand out.

if you’re looking for a genuine “escape room at home” experience, this is the closest i have found. Very happy with this experience and i’m very excited to play the others at a game night. if we ever have another lockdown, i recommend this heavily.

This game had a lot going on for two players. From the time we started, it was a scramble to find the correct puzzles and get them done fast. Definitely felt the pressure of the clock and it created a real sense of urgency. One puzzle took a lot longer than others, which was the only real frustration. All pages that were written on can be reprinted so the game can be passed along to friends, which is a nice touch.
