The Crumbling Prince - Episode 1UkiyoEscape roomIRLTruly an immersive experience interacting with the environment itself and the main storyteller of the room. The puzzles were woven into the environment were very creative in placement, making the room feel larger than it was. Each player gets a unique experience with the different masks provided, allowing you to really feel like you're in the setting, with a great story to follow along with it! There is a reason this room has so many good reviews!!
Deep Space 2: DarkUkiyoEscape roomIRLWent into this room with mixed feelings from the first part, and left feeling - a bit better. The puzzles did not largely build upon those of the previous part in any unique ways and simply felt like an extension just to serve the branching story. The idea of alternative endings and story built through interaction with the AI does well to push the story along, but seems as a tradeoff for overall story depth, content and puzzle complexity. Though the individual story variations do not seem to be substantial enough to warrant going back and trying the other routes. If you are someone who enjoys using your imagination and hearing it played out through the AI, I think you will really enjoy this part 2. Otherwise, this experience lacks substance for the price but is an overall well-made room/experience.
Star CrewEarthrise OneEscape roomIRLWhat an experience!! This one is unlike any traditional escape room experience around the area, and is more of a virtual story-driven adventure rather than typical puzzle-based rooms. Star Crew throws you and your group into the helm of a spaceship, with physical puzzles in maintaining the ship's functions mixed with virtual aspects of ship controls, combat and story-driven exploration, all with a virtual companion to talk to, driving the story along. The sheer technical aspects of this experience are the most impressive we've experienced thus far, with complex spaceship controls and multiple stations for you and your crew to cooperatively manage through designated roles. Despite there being more stations than our player count (two), the experience is highly tunable and the GM (Jack - amazing and passionate person btw!) made sure we had an amazing time. While this experience is still in a testing phase at the time of review (apparently we were the 2nd group to do this one), there were no major bugs that took away from our amazing time at this room and we highly recommend this to any player looking for an immersive sci-fi experience in the area.
Old HauntRed Herring EscapeEscape roomIRLOverall, this experience provided some unique twists that aren't common in other rooms, but the overall flow of puzzles and difficulty left much to be desired. The designated areas themselves contain an assortment of information and it can be a guess sometimes as to what the actual solutions are or where the clues lead to. After a set period of time, the puzzles push you forwards for the story or outright give you the answers to move on, which can be confusing whether this is an intended clue-giving method or a mechanism to progress the story. This room is on the easier side if you are familiar with uncommon gimmicks being present, but not a terrible experience overall. Would say this room is average at best!
