AstrologerINBLACK Escape Room - North YorkEscape roomIRLPlayed Astrologer and had a really good time. I liked that it wasn't just one puzzle after another. There were multiple things happening at the same time, so our group could split up and work on different clues instead of everyone standing around waiting. The mechanisms in this room were also really cool and definitely one of the highlights. One small heads up: there's one room where the floor moves a bit, which caught me completely off guard 😂. Also, don't rush through the written clues. We missed an important detail because we skimmed it too quickly, and once we actually slowed down and read everything carefully, the next part made a lot more sense. The old lady NPC was surprisingly convincing. I honestly couldn't tell if they had hired an actual elderly woman or if it was just really good makeup and acting. Her robe covered most of her, so I couldn't even get a proper look, which somehow made it even creepier. I'd recommend this room for around 4 or 5 people. There are enough puzzles that everyone has something to do, but it's not so difficult that you end up asking for hints every few minutes. It felt challenging in a fun way, and finishing it was really satisfying.
WitnessINBLACK Escape Room - North YorkEscape roomIRLI was honestly a little nervous booking Witness after reading some of the negative reviews, and I was wondering if I made the right choice. But after playing it, I can say that it was totally worth the price. This is exactly the type of escape room I enjoy — lots of mechanical locks, magnets, codes, and hands-on puzzles. It doesn’t feel like you’re just watching a story happen; you actually need to search, think, and work together with your team. There are a lot of different rooms to explore, and I really liked how each area was designed. The puzzles at the beginning were not too difficult, which helped us get into the game, but the difficulty slowly increased as we progressed. The full 90 minutes went by so fast because we were constantly solving something. The feeling of opening one thing and discovering another room or another puzzle was really satisfying. I also read some reviews mentioning cleanliness issues before coming, so I was paying attention to that. Honestly, I didn’t see any of those problems during our visit. The place was clean, the room was well maintained, and they even have dedicated parking spots right in front of the store, which was convenient. The staff were also great. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and their English was clear, so communication was never an issue. If you like classic mechanical escape rooms with lots of puzzles and exploration, I would definitely recommend giving Witness a try. I’m glad we didn’t cancel because of the reviews — we had a really fun experience.
