The Family CabinQuicksand Escape GamesEscape roomIRLReally fun room. There's a ton of puzzles and almost all of them were unique and had I'd never seen before. Took about half the time to get to the second part of the room and I was filled with dread when I saw the second room having so many puzzles. The people I went with this time were pretty beginner and so I was essentially doing most of solving myself, which I can say is really hard in this room. There's unlimited hints, so at the end I just started continually asking for hints with 5 minutes left, and barely finished. The theme was a throwback though I had only interacted with some of the things in the room when I was really young. I'm not too cultured with 90s-00s music so my friends did help me there. The party before us accidentally took a item of the room, and the game masters were thinking about what to do very politely, but luckily the party brought the item back. However, the game masters accidentally forgot to lock the third to last puzzle so they had to come into the room to relock it, which broke the immersion a little, but they were super nice about it. Puzzles were primarily linear until second half of the room where it branches for a bit but is still primarily linear. Would highly recommend!
Escape from the Red RoomREAL ESCAPE GAME CROSSING AsakusaEscape roomIRLVery very interesting room, though not too many puzzles. Even with my experience I was very confused and couldn't figure out what to do many times. A very unique room!
Special Ops: Mysterious MarketThe Escape Game - GaslampEscape roomIRLThis room is like on the verge of love and like for me. There's a ton of unique puzzles with awesome theming. Like the theme was super on point, the rooms here always have such high production quality. But there weren't that many puzzles, probably only about 13-15 total. I went with about 7 other pretty experienced/smart people and this room is nonlinear, so we legitimately were blazing through the room. There's videos that are shown where they're supposed to pause the time, but they specifically didn't pause because apparently if they did then we would've escaped in like 30 minutes. But I really like the high tech things that are in this room. This room is also on the pricier side at $44.99. Was fun in my opinion, our game master was super chill and let us preview the other rooms too. You can also film and take pictures in the room while you're here! I like the company, with I got a discount voucher before leaving (20% off your next room)
The Lost ExpeditionSteal and EscapeEscape roomIRLThis room is not purely time based. There's fuel and based on the number of lights you have, the faster your fuel runs out. Split start is super awesome, loved it. There's some computer based puzzles which I thought were really fun (i am a software developer), with roles given to each player (and i got programmer LOL). I don't really have that many qualms, idk what jlions13 problem is.
Prison BreakThe Escape Game - GaslampEscape roomIRLI think this room has it all. Multiple rooms. Split team. High tech. Good puzzles. Potentially non-linear. Really enjoyed this room. I think they're so confident in their production that they even allow photos and videos literally during the room. First time I've been to a room that allows that. They have infinite clues in this room. We escaped with barely any time, but I also spammed the clue button for the last 15 minutes, just every time we completed a clue I pressed it again. Pretty shameful as someone who prides themself on being experienced at escape rooms. One crazy thing is also the fact that you actually break some props which I've also never experienced at any room. Some unfortunate things about the room are that it is shared unless you book all the slots. We ended up with 3 randoms with my party of 4. Another thing was that a lock can be opened with your hand, without the tool. However, we didn't even do this because the door latch actually broke off. We ended up skipping like half of the puzzles in a room, but I guess at least we probably wouldn't have escaped otherwise. Lastly, our GM also wasn't the most friendly. Though she did explain the puzzles we missed, she went too fast and I still am missing a piece of the puzzle. She kinda ignored me after I asked to clarify again. The receptionist Lily was very nice though. All in all, really great room. A little on the pricey side ($44) but worth it in my opinion. Hoping to do other rooms here in the future!
The Curse Of KV62Locked AdventuresEscape roomIRLMy team and I blew through this room. The puzzles aren't super straight forward, but I guess with our experience it was pretty beginner level. There weren't that many puzzles but they were high tech so it was definitely fun to experience. Our game master was super nice and was really excited to recommend some other escape rooms to us. Note that pharaoh only talks to you if you ask for hints. Which we didn't so we didn't really interact with pharaoh lol
The A.I.The Exit Game - San DiegoEscape roomIRLSad that this place closed. The room is actually really cool and has some fun and unique technological puzzles. Freddie Wong showed up at the beginning. There's a challenge mode if you finish the room fast enough.
ConfinementRed Door Escape Room - San DiegoEscape roomIRLI'm a big scaredy cat. I looked at all the reviews and I was kinda scared that I'd freak out in this room. Honestly, not too spooky at all. No creepiness from being antique or old. Not really any blood. The spookiness is probably on the equivalent of going to a Halloween store. Somewhat glad for this though. I think that room was pretty fun, I don't like to use hints but there were some puzzles where my group just didn't know what to do, and that was mainly just because the puzzles were unique. None of the puzzles were stupid/unfair, there was a very standard flow to everything. Puzzles were both linear and nonlinear, and there were a handful of riddles, which actually take thinking to solve. GM was very welcoming and friendly. It was $40 and had tax in addition which was somewhat on the pricey side but I think this room just really felt like a standard good escape room. This room is considered one of their harder rooms, but I do think it was pretty medium level.
Gold RushThe Escape Game - San JoseEscape roomIRLGood theme in my opinion, but some puzzles were really hard to think of what to do on them. I think we spent like 25 minutes not knowing what to do, then quickly figured out after. Pretty small and not too many puzzles though.
